Using the Open File Dialog box for importing tables.

Help me please?

I'm have users import tables from other Access Database in one of the
process needed to use my ADB. To do this the user opens a form with a
field for the file directory and another field for the Access database
name. I would like to replace this with a Open file Dialog box. Could
you please share with me the best way or the easiest way to accomplish
this task.

Thanks for you time!

Does anyone know how to use VBA to relink tables between two MS Access databases? We have two databases, one with VBA code and the other with data tables. The tables are referenced by linked tables in the database where the code resides. If we move the database with the data tables to a new directory, the links are no longer valid. I tried to update the links by changing the Connect property and refreshing: Set td = db.TableDefs(0)...

I am importing a .csv file into Access that has 37 fields. My problem is that sometimes the last field only has data at the end of the column (it looks like when you import a file into Access, for the last field, it only checks the top few 'cells' to see if there is any data, if not, the field is not imported). How do I 'force' Access to import the field, regardless if there is data in the top of the field or not? For instance, I might...

Hi, I am automating Access reports to PDF using PDF Writer 6.0. I've created a DTS package to run the reports and schedule a job to run this DTS package. If I PC Anywhere into the server on where the job is running, the job runs sucessfully, PDF files got generated, everything is good. If I scheduled the job to run at the time that I am not logged into the server, Access is not able to print to the printer. The error is pretty...

Hello there, I have a front end database that I have recently made very many changes to to allow off-line use. I keep copies of the databases on my hard drive and link to them rather than the live databases on the network. Is there a way, via code, when I get back in-house from being on the road to click a button, and select the backends I want to link to? I would want to delete all the current links and link to the "live"

Background: I'm new at SQL Server (no experience, zip, nada) but getting pretty good with developing applications in Access(VBA) and in VB using ADO.... Currently I use access to and GIS software to build data management systems. I have become pretty proficient in programming these systems in Access but a client would like their system to be on an existing SQL server. I understand one way to go would be to develop the GUI in VB and hit

Last week I suddenly could not open Access tables, queries, etc. in either design or data entry view. If I create a new db, with a new table, everything seems okay. However, once I try to open the table then I receive a dialog box (having an explanation mark and "Microsoft Access" as the dialog title) with "Unknown" as the warning. Macros and queries can be created, but they will not run. When I go to Tools / Security / User and Group...

I am new to databases and thus to Access. I have a situation where I am trying to figure out how to key some tables I am working with. Consider that I have a database of my own records which are invoices I work on. These invoices are from four companies with their own invoice numbers. So, I cannot key by invoice number because there is a likelihood of invoice numbers duplicated by different companies. The records in this table of joined...

How do you get an accurate count of the number of records returned from a query when using linked tables. I have an access 2003 database as a front end to another access 2003 database that contains only tables. I have linked the tables for the front end to the back end database. I am trying to set the recordsource of a form to a query established by the user to narrow the scope but I don't want to display the form if there are no...

I am importing a XML file and have not been having the best of luck in doing this, but I do have the following solution below. I will not be importing more than 2000 records at a time, but will be importing data to many different tables. Can someone explain if there is a better way to do what I am doing without having to call a stored procedure for each row (like I'm doing below)? A good example would be great as my understanding of xml or...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
