extending memo field length

I'm sure this is a very easy one if you know, but any help would be
appreciated
I have a field in my database which needs to be as long as poosible.
in the help it says that a memo field is 4000 odd characters long,
which would be about right. However my memo field does not remember
any more than about 300 characters. Is there a box or something to tick
to allow longer field lengths?
thanks again

Memo and its interface can easily handle 64000 characters.

If yours is truncating after 255 characters:
1. Open the table in design view.

2. Double-check the field is a Memo (not Text) type.

3. Make sure you do not have anything in the Format property of the field
(lower pane in Table Design view).

4. Open your form in design view.

5. Right-click the text box bound to the memo, and choose Properties. Make
sure there is nothing in the Format or Input Mask properties of the text
box.

6. If the form is based on a query, make sure there is no aggregation in the
query. For example, it must not have a DISTINCT predicate, or a GROUP BY
clause on the memo.

Thank you in advance for any and all assistance. I'm trying to input data from strings to a memo field. I would like to know how to check first to see if there is text there currently and if so move to the end and input the new text. Also, would like to know if I can change the justification on each line of text as it's entered. i.e. Company Name, address, city state and zip would be centered and all the

Hi - I have a problem with a memo field being truncated to about 255 characters when running a Access 2002 query. This only seems to happen if I use SELECT DISTINCT. It works ok using SELECT by itself. does anyone know why this happens and how to stop it?

Hello- I am trying to create an Access table using DDL that has a memo field. I have the syntax to create the memo field but I can't find the syntax to also set whether the memo field should allow zero length. I can set this option using the Access interface directly, but I want to create this table and this column definition using a DDL script. Listed below is the script that works but I just need the syntax to set the additional...

Hello, I'm looking for a way to parse/format a memo field within a report. The Access 2000 database (application) has an equipment table that holds a memo field. Within the report, the memo field is printed within the detailed area. The problem is, the apllication is not setup properly, thus the users are entering data within the memo field as: location1 1/1/2005 1/1/2006

Hello, In Report Design View in the Detail Section I have several vertical lines that I would like to autoextend with the length of the detail section. This is becasue I have a memo field that "Can Grow" so that it can fit all the information that the users input. If anyone knows how to do this for the lines that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

I have a table with 250 fields. Of course you are wondering why 250 fields... what could I possibly be storing in so many fields? I am using this table as a general import table for files that vary based on user selections. The input files are CSVs and can number from 2 to 175 columns. Each field is usually able to fit into a Text field (< 255 characters) but every now and then a longer field creeps in. since I don't know in which column...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
