I am using the MySQL ODBC 3.51 driver to link three relatively small MySQL
tables to a Microsoft Access 2003 database. I am finding that the data from
the MySQL tables takes a hell of a long time to load making any kind linkage
with my Access data virtually useless.
I have the MySQL driver setup in as a USER DSN. The MySQL data is sitting
out on a server and the Access database is running locally. The network
connection is very...

For an application displaying read only data targeting a small audience it
would seem to me that using ODBC DSNs to delegate user authentication would
be quicker to develop than recreating that same authentication and
authorization within the app using dotnet data providers, though of course
ODBC is outdated and would be a deployment headache and would limit
scalability. But in certain cases, could it be considered professionally...

I use Blanks in ColumnNames ( I know that this isn´t very good, but a
lot of code and querys had to be changed if I would remove all blanks
in all columnnames).
When I link this tables with ODBC in my ACC97 - project, some of the
tables causes an ODBC-Error.
Are there possibilities to workaround this error?
Thanks, Andreas Lauffer, easySoft. GmbH, Germany

Two questions regarding ODBC.
1) I am connecting to a MySQL database using the following code:
Function LoginToMySQL(sUsername As String, sPW As String) As Boolean
Dim dbMySQL As Database
Dim cnMySQL As DAO.Connection
Dim sDSN As String
sDSN = "ODBC;DRIVER={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver};" _
& "SERVER=127.0.0.1;" _

High there everyone,
I have inherited a database with an odbc table (linking to an oracle
database) , we have recently updated our operating environment to
windows 2000 (access 2000). since then everytime i try to add a
record to the linked table i get the following error ODBC call failed
sqlerrm(tablename)(#-391)
I have found out that the sqlerrm table in oracle is an error table
but I haven't been able to find out what is causing...

Hi all,
I'm having quite a bit of trouble with code to create linked tables in
Access 2K. I create a DAO tabledef using CreateTableDef against a DAO
database object, then set its connection string appropriately. The
trouble is when I go to append the tableDef to the collection I get
error 3264:
No field defined --cannot append TableDef or Index
Any suggestions?

I am using Access 2003 and are linking to an Oracle 9i ODBC datasource
(using Oracle ODBC drivers). After linking the tables in Access, I inspect
the data contained in the linked tables. For tables that involve a number
field as the primary key, the data is returned successfully. For tables
that involve a character field (e.g. CHAR(3) or VARCHAR(10)) as the primary
key, I have the correct number of rows returned, but the data displayed...

Scenario is:
We have an intranet on which a Helpdesk application can be accessed.
Data input into the Helpdesk is stored in a Access 2000 database, held
on a server. This is great, works fine, Users and IT have a warm fuzzy
feeling of contentment.
Turns out Helpdesk application is short of decent reporting
capabilities.
So, I create an Access DB on my machine, via ODBC, link to the tables
within the Helpdesk Access database. I set the...

I am converting an application from A97 to A2003. I have 2 tables
created by another application as a Foxpro.dbf. The table has no index.
The connect string in A97 is
FoxPro 2.0;HDR=NO;IMEX=2;DATABASE=C:\Test
It's really easy to connect to those tables in A97. I'm having
difficulties in A2003. I'm trying to follow the instructions in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824264/.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
