Access 2003 upgrade question.

I have a user who currently has Access 97 installed on her PC. She
has purchased a new PC and would like to have Access installed on it.
She would like to upgrade her current Access to Access 2003.

When installing the Access 2003 upgrade on the new PC, do I have to
install Access 97 first, then run the Access 2003 upgrade CD? And if
so, do I need any unlocking or any type of codes during the Access 97
installation? Or can I just run the Access 2003 upgrade CD?

Thanks.

I have not done an Access 2003 _upgrade_, but the normal course of upgrades
is, if they don't find the qualifying software installed, they tell you to
insert the CD / Diskette, check it, and go on about their install.

Hi There I have a client, with whom I have done some work on their Access 2000 database. They have upgraded to Access 2003 and want to be able to use it instead. Would there be any foreseeable problems with doing this? Is there anything that I should watch out for? If we do upgrade both the front and back ends, will all computers have to run A2003 or can A2000 still access the data in the backend that's in A2003 format.

Hi, I have a copy of Access 97 while my client uses Access 2000 which supports Unicode. My client has ordered a copy of Access 2000 upgrade for me, but the middleman, atomicpark.com is totally ABSURD, first they delayed delivery and secondly when they sent the ordered product they sent me a badly damaged CD, when I asked for replacement they did not even bother to apologize instead telling me to contact them. I don't ever ever want to...

I have a client who is using Access 2002/2000 (the database itself is written in 2000), and is considering migrating to Access 2003. Any recommendations on whether Access 2003 is worth the migrate, or should he stick with 2002? Thanks! Neil

We've had a very large A97 app running fine for the last seven years. I've just converted to SQL Server backend, which is being tested, but meanwhile the JET based version, running under terminal server, has suddenly started running very slowly. The network engineer has thrown up his hands and said "It's Access 97". I've checked out lots of things including the Oplocks setting and other stuff from this NG, and I think I've done everything...

Hi We need some advice: We are thinking of upgrading our Access database from Access 2000 to Access 2004. How stable is MS Office 2003? (particularly Access 2003). We are just a small company and this is a big decision for us(!) It's not just the money it's committing to an new version of Access!

We are running an Access 2000 MDB with a SQL 7 back end. Our network guy is upgrading to Windows Server 2003 and wants to upgrade Office and SQL Server at the same time. We're moving to SQL Server 2005, and, since he already has licenses for Office Pro 2002, he wants to upgrade to that. I've been saying that we need to upgrade to Access 2003, not 2002, even if Office is kept at 2002. We are also looking to do a fair amount of...

I do programming in Access 2000 and 2003. I don't have a copy of 2003 myself, though. I have read about the adp software that comes with Access 2003, that converts an application to an access front end with a SQL server backend. It sounds like a good way for me to begin to learn about SQL server. I have thought about just shelling out the bucks for a copy of Access 2003, but the adp software is really the only reason. Hi I need help. I have a ms access 2003 database that I would like to upgrade to ms access 2007. The first time I opened I had to fix a few references it wanted a DAO2535.TLB file witch I gave it, and a utility.mda file witch I think i gave it. The instructions on Microsoft's web sight were not very clear where to put the utility.mda so I am not sure if I have it at the right place. The Database does not ask for it anymore. I have...

Hi !! I'm about to develop a new project for a client. Should I go about it in Access 2003 or 2007 ? Purchasing it either for me or for my client is not a major consideration here ... what I'd like to know is the stability, speed & ease of use of both the products. I believe Access 2007 has a new file format too and that it may be slower.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
