Record number - on Form - always defaults to 1

Greetings all.

Please help a real beginner using Access 2000.

During experimentation with this program I have deleted many records from my
main Table but the bottom left window always shows the actual number of
records still existing. (Record ! of 32)
When I open the corresponding Form the bottom left window shows 'Record 1 of
1'; I can add say 5 new records and look back perhaps to 'Record 2 of 5' -
no problem so far. But if I close the Form and then reopen it I'm back to
'Record 1 of 1'.

The only way I can review existing records, and those last 5 records, is in
Table Datasheet view - which now shows (Record ! of 37).

What do I need to do to get the Form View to let me chose, and see, any one
of my 37 records.

Thanks in anticipation.

Someone has set the Form'a Data Entry property to Yes.
All you can do is enter new records.

To open the form normally, set DataEntry to No (on the Format tab of
the Form's property sheet).
Set the Allow Additions, Allow Edits, and Allow Deletions properties
to Yes.
You can still add new records, as well as do every thing else.

Fred,

You are a star. I found DataEntry (actually on the Data tab of the
Form's property sheet) had been set to Yes.
I changed it to No and everything now works as I want it to. No doubt the
original mistake was mine - learning fast.

Thanks again

Please bear with me, and if you answer this question, please do it step by step. I am new at Access, not at all sophisticated. I am using Office XP. This will need to be read in Access for Office 2000. I am creating a database to track student athletes. I have created the following tables. The table title is to the far left, with fields under each. The common field will be the StudentID field, which is their student number assigned...

I have a form with about 25 fields. In the BeforeUpdate event of the form, I have code that sets the default value of each field to its current value. For a new record, I can put the focus in any field to start. If I edit that field and then click on the new record button in the navigation buttons, the form goes to a new record and each field has the default value of the previous record. If I put the focus in any field to start, edit that...

I am trying to create a form to make it easier to modify a record without having to page through all the records. I have started the form with 3 cascading combo boxes. ie #1 asks for division , #2 is populated with just the customers in the division specified by #1 and then #3 is just the Parts for the customer in #2. This part works great. I now need to set the code in the after update of the #3 combo box to pull up the record that...

Whenever you use a continous form each row represents a record. Does this record have a number? If so how do you access it. Right now I have a field using auto number. But if access generates its own number for that row I'd like to use that. Thanks DS

VS2005 I've been reading all the help I can on the topic (MSDN, other) but I can't make sense of this. Desired behavior; The user is to choose from the displayed list of the databound combobox and the coresponding 'Id' from the lookup table is to be inserted into the field of the new record. I have two simple tables. "tblPerson" is the data table. The lookup

I want to be able to use the record numbers of a sub-form, are they available anyhow in VB (Access 2003)? I want to use the sub-form record number as *part* of the primary key for the table whose data is displayed on the sub-form. The other part of the primary key is the column used to join to the master table. E.g. I have TableA (the master table) with a primary key TableA.Column1. TableB which is shown in the sub-form has a primary...

I am developing an Access application where users insert bill records for an electricity account by clicking on a new button. I have three issues as follows

Hi folks, I've got something that's driving me crazy here. If you don't want to read a long explanation, this is not the post for you. My problematic Access app is a DB for keeping track of software test data. Each instance of a test is associated with a "test case", that is, a test item. Each test instance (or "run") may have a number of other characteristics too, such as browser used, OS (XP, Vista, Linux, Mac OSX, etc.), etc., but for...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
