I have a main form with a sub form. All the fields in the subform
are mandatory. I had some code on the main form Before Update Event to
check if all the fields in the sub form have data. If not, I want to
cancel update event and allow user to enter the sub form to fill in all
mandatory fields. I tried many code and don't have any solution to work
around. It never allows me to go into the sub form again after triggering
the before update event on the main form.
Any solution to this problem?
Not as such. You cannot create a subform record until AFTER the main form
record has been created and saved. Therefore your main form cannot be made to
require a subform entry. You could bind your forms to temporary work tables and
only copy the data to the live tables after both forms have been filled out.
Then the process that does the copying *can* make sure that every parent record
has at least one child record.
