A validation rule question

I created a function to test to see if entered text has a '.' in it,
The code seems to work but the validation always fails even when 'true' is
returned.

i put
= myfunction in the validation rule and ny validation messages always
displays.

What am I doing wrong

Post the function definition and exactly what you have entered in the
Validation Rule blank.

Ok, if I do
myfunction([field])) = True, it will work, but now another error.
I get a type mismatch in validationprope rty when I enter a null value
I would like the null value to be accepted also

Related to another topic I just posted, I wanted to discuss ways to optimize the validation of very large (>100MB) XML documents. First, I have no idea if something like this already exists; it may even be the typical implementation for all I know. At any rate, it occurs to me that the set of business rules that need to be validated against an XML document represent a limited set of nodes at any given time (while parsing through the...

Hi all, I am doing a project for university whereby i have to implement a simple database related to a frozen foods company. I am having some trouble though creating a validation rule for one of my fields. I have a table called "Product" and two of the fields included in this table are "Cost Price" and "Retail Price". I need to create a validation rule so that the Cost Price is always less than the Retail Price. I have tried...

I've got a validation rule that says something like =xx or xxx or zzzz. Though I may not have described it well it does work fine and that is really not my question. Here's what I'd like to do. Let's say that I choose zzzz, I'd like for a particular control (or text box) in my form to become required. At other times, if xx or xxx is inputed it would not be required. Is this possible? Thanks, and as always, further explanatiions...

Basically, Table B under field 2 has the following row entries: Apple, Pear, Lemon, Orange. When I input data in field 1 for Table A I want it to give me an error message if try and input Watermelon (since Watermelon doesn't exist anywhere in Table2.) If anyone could help me out with this, it would be much...

Hi guys, So I'm editing an existing database (Access 2003), and I need a bit of help in making a validation rule. My table has many fields, 3 of which are indexed (location, number & revision) Each of these 3 fields can have duplicates (Same location can exist for multiple items, same number can exist for multiple items, and same revision can exist for multiple items). However, all 3 fields cannot be the same in multiple records (Ex.....

Hi guys, I would like to setup a validation rule for a database in microsoft access that restricts data entry so that a certain field can only be filled in if another field has a specific answer (that is selected via a drop down list). Example Field1 - options are "In" or "Out" Field2 - options are "Join" or "Not Joining"

I'm surprised I couldnt find a question about this here so guess I better ask. I have a form with two date fields. and . Obviously, Enddate cannot predate Startdate field so I decided to do a validation rule for both fields. I selected the startdate field and inserted <= along with Validation text. Now, the strange thing is that no matter what date I select in the StartDate field, the validation rule fires and the Validation Text pops...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
