vb.net and stored procedures on SQL Server 2000

Good morning everyone. Could someone tell me if there is a book out
there which gives examples of both VB.net code and creating SQL Server
2000 stored procedures and how you get them to work together in the
most efficient way.

Right now we have a server at our Philadelphia office and I am in our
St. Louis office we are connected with a T1 line. We have several
Access 2000 applications on the Philly server but when you try to run
them from St. Louis it takes forever.

I was hoping using VB.Net with stored procedures would increase the
performance. Am I correct in this assumtion? And please let me know
of any good books that I had mentioned early. Thanks for any help.

The programming language is not very relevant to this problem: whether
Access displays the rows returned from your select statement, or
VB.NET's data grid does, doesn't make too much difference. What *does*
make a difference is the data access methods (DAO, ADO, ADO.NET), and
whether or not you use a file system database like Access or a server
database like SQL Server. Also database design may make a difference:
be sure your tables are correctly indexed.

So test those aspects first. Access ADP can actually run stored
procedures against a SQL back-end. You can use this to time the
various permutations.

Now, some of our users have been having problems and deciding for themselves to CTRL+ALT+DEL the application. This is the first thing we will stop. However, we have had some error messages indicating that the previous transaction is blocking them...

Hello all, this is my second post to this newsgroup. It's a question about stored procedures and permissions and how these behave between databases. Here's the scenario. I have a database that stores information for a system "A", and I have a different database on the same SQL server that stores the login and other info "LOGIN". I write a stored procedure in the "A" database that checks some tables in the "LOGIN" database, let's call...

The concept should be the same that the stored procedures execute in the database server with better performance? Please advise good references for Oracle stored procedures also. thanks!!

When I move these stored procedures, I would like to encrypt them, using the 'WITH ENCRYPTION' clause. I then go through the wizard and choose "Specify a custom SQL Statement or Stored Procedure." Then...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
