I'd like to delete a record and all its children records at one time. How
do I do that?
Can you, in one SQL statement,
delete from table 1 where id = 3
delete from table 2 where id = 12
delete from table 3 where id = 12
......

I created the following .sql file to demonstrate a problem I'm having.
According to the manual:
If |ON DELETE CASCADE| is specified, and a row in the parent table
is deleted, then InnoDB automatically deletes also all those rows in
the child table whose foreign key values are equal to the referenced
key value in the parent row.
However:

I'm finding this to be extremely difficult to set up. I understand
that Access won't manage the primary key and the cascade updates for a
table. Fine. I tried changing the PK type to number and setting
default value to a UDF that manages the auto-numbering. Access won't
take a UDF as a default value. Okay, I'll use SQL WITHOUT any
aggregate functions, for the default value. Access won't do that
either. Okay, I create a second...

HI all, Access 2003, Jet back end.
Rather than annoy my users in a particular app by having relationships
with enforced relational integrity refuse to delete a record with
related records, I'm using cascade delete. When I use a continuous form
and a record is deleted, Access provides a warning that there are
related records, do you want to continue (an aside - anyone know how to
trap that warning on the form on error event?). However,...

Hi,
Thought perhaps some other eyes than mine can tell if I'm doing
something wrong here or if there's a bug somewhere. I've never
passed a ROWTYPE varaible to a function but I don't see where
the problem is.
I keep getting errors like (the first is my debug output):
NOTICE: last cycle is: 11
WARNING: Error occurred while executing PL/pgSQL function

Greetings,
I have to delete older policies and its related records in other
tables.
The deletion from the parent table will trigger the deletion of
relevant records from about 30 something tables that are defined with
DELETE CASCADE.
The delete SQL goes like this:

In Access 2000 and later, you can create a relation between tables where
related records can be automatically set to Null rather than deleted when
the primary record is deleted.
I have not seen anyone using or discussing this feature, so there is a new
article explaining the concept here:
Cascade to Null Relations

Hello World! I'm a rookie with access and my green skin needs a little help. I have two tables, one called BOM and one called Junction. BOM contains parts and assemblies and subassemblies info and has ModID as the primary key. Junction has three fields: ID (autonumbered primary key), Parents (related to ModID as one-to-many) and Children (related to parents as one-to-many). I need to have cascade update and cascade delete capability for...

I have an unusual design and some very unusual issues with my code... I have forced Access to cooperate on everything except one issue - record deletion.
My form design involves a recursively nested form. In other words, the form, m_settings_menueditor_recursive has a single subform; m_settings_menueditor_recursive (both are viewed as datasheets - so the form is its own subdatasheet.) The Form_Open event modifies the form's recordset so...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
