Populating Access fields with information from an Excel spreadsheet

I have an Excel spreadsheet with two fields of data, part number and
product code (hundreds of lines of data).
The same fields of data are in a database, however the product code
fields are empty. I need to somehow have Access look at the
spreadsheet and if the part number in the spreadsheet matches the part
number in Access, it will populate the Access product code field with
the corresponding product code data that resides in the spreadsheet.
Hope this makes sense. Can someone get me jump-started in the right
direction on how to go about doing this?

I was wondering if anyone has had an issue where using vba code to read an excel file and import the data into an access table some records are not imported from the excel file. It seems looking at the data in the excel file that if the first character in the excel file cell is numeric it will read and write only numeric values only. If I sort the coloumn in the excel file and the first character in the cell read is alphanumeric then only...

Hello all, My code can successfully open, write to, format and save several worksheets in a workbook then save it by a given name, close and quit excel. My problem is that if I try and do it again, Excel hangs. OR if I open Excel again (say from a desktop icon) before I close Access, Excel hangs. (this has happened for both 97 & 2000 for me) I of course thought that I mustn't be unloading a variable properly.

Dear All, I have an Access database that tracks the progress of income tax audits. When the taxing authorities make a change (an "Adjustment"), I record the pertinent information in the database. At the end of the audit cycle, these adjustments are used to compute the revised taxes due. This computation is done in a fairly complex, but accurate and easy to use, spreadsheet. In the spreadsheet, there is a sheet that lists out all...

Hello again: My second question is: I am linking an excel spreadsheet into Access, I have it linked and at first had problems getting the information imported into Access-it wasn't importing-I had a msg in the populated fields which read #NUM- I was told to use quotations before and after the numbers in Excel and it would import correctly, which did happen but when I run my query off that linked table, it creates far too many...

I have the project that may never end in front of me. I am creating a routine that will take SpreadSheets from Excel and bring them into Access. I am not using any "DoCmd"s because the goal is for the import code to be moved to a stand alone VB app which will use the Access DB as a workspace to process the data from the spreadsheets. Quite honestly, done right this may not even require Access or Excel to be on the users machine. ...

Problem for Excel Developers One of the problems facing Excel developers moving into MS Access is actually the apparent similarity between MS Access tables and Excel spreadsheets. MS Access is NOT Excel This similarity of the “look” in both programs, the layout of the data, leads to the Excel developer mistakenly thinking that a database works in a similar way to a spreadsheet. Flat File Database Spreadsheets are very sophisticated...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
