Hi All,
I want to write an application that will talk to a RDBMS.
The application needs to be platform neutral from both an operating
system and database backend point of view.
I have decided to create a prototype in Python, the RDBMS will be
PostgreSQL running on a Linux box.

mysql v4.0.16:
I had been using mysql with innodb and thought that was fine, until i used
it for something requiring a few - perhaps slightly involved - joins, and
have now seen the performance become totally unacceptable.
I have a query that takes over 35 seconds using mysql and innodb, for
reasons that are completely a mystery to me, in a result set consisting of
only a handful of items.

I recently had a Microsoft Access 97 database corrupt on me. The
setup is a split database (front end/back end) setup with about 10-15
users. This is the first corruption in something like a year. The
database has about 25 tables, and the total size is about 15MB, after
a compact. The front end sits on users Windows 2000 Professional
desktops, and the file server is a Windows 2000 Server.
I've been thinking of migrating the back end,...

Hey guys,
I want to import a database from SQL Server 2000 to MS Access with all
indices and keys along with the tables. DTS does not export indices
and keys, only the structure and the data.
When used "Import External Data" through Access(linking through ODBC)
it creadted liked tables, however with indices and keys. Can remove
these links and preserve only th stucture back. How do I do it.
Thanks

Hi,
I need to store and retrieve information from a database. It looks as though
there is a lot more support for SQLServer than there is for Access, correct
me if I am wrong.
What do I have to do to get SQLServer and which version should I be using.
Or is SQLServer already part of the VS.Net? Are there any good examples that
you know of.

Hi all
I am planning on writing a stock and accounts program for the family
business, I understand this is likely to take close to 2 years to
accomplish. The stock is likely to run into over a thousand items and
the accounting side will be used for hopefully many years so the
entries are likely to be vast.
The delema is what is best to use ase the DB engine, Access I have as
part of Office 2002 or should I really be looking at SQL...

How will Access fair in a year? Two years? .... The new version of
Access seems to service non programmers as a wizard interface to
quickly create databases via a fancy wizard. Furthermore, why would
you even continue to use Access as a backend when you have a much
superior option in SQL express?
What about as a future front-end development tool? Let's get serious.
Microsoft continues to publish numerous articles and videos on how you...

I am new to Access, trying to figure it out on my own.
I am trying to create a form to input the same information in 3
different tables. The 3 tables each have a different number as the
primary key, although they each do contain the other 2 numbers in
their tables.
I have been unsuccessful and am wondering if perhaps my relationships
are inaccurate.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
