Error numbers

Just got this out of an error log: (ready with that Courier font:)
ErrorNo ErrroMessage Occurances
----------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------
-2147352567 ODBC--call failed. 6
-2147352567 The field is too small to accept the amount of data you attempted to add. Try inserting or pasting less data. 71
-2147352567 Update or CancelUpdate without AddNew or Edit. 12

Now not only is the last one Error 3020, which I already trap, now if I
want to trap this new error number as well I have to check the message
text?

The first one is usually 3146, which when I trap I loop dbengine.errors
to get the error number(s), text(s) from the server.

What is all this minus 2 billion stuff and why can't error numbers be
unique?

Can anyone run this program through their compiler or if they can see a logical error please point it out. I have my tutor working on it at the moment but I would rather a less ambigious response than the one I think he will provide. The test data, A:\\"514650.txt", appears at the end of the program. The problem is that the program won't read this file and the debugger as far as i know how to work it won't point out the mistake of any....

I ran what was submitted in several forums, but it's not exactly what i'm looking for. I'm dy'n over here. Ah, the frustrations of an amateur programmer. I included the code below in c++. which details what i'm looking for. I'm sure its just a small detail. But I'm in the dark. // numbers1to10only.cpp #include <iostream.h>

If you've ever employed custom error numbers and messages in you programs, you've probably ended up with code similar to what I've ended up with in the past something like... <code> public Const xyzcErrNumBase As Long = 500 Public Const xyzcErrNumHeyDontDoThat = xyzcErrNumBase + 1 Public Const xyzcErrTxtHeyDontDoThat = "Hey! Don't do that!"

Here is some code to generate code for raising and getting information about custom errors in an application. Executing the GenerateXyzErrDefs procedure generates the code. <tblXyzError> ErrorCodeOffset (Long Int) ErrorObjBaseName (Text(50)) ErrorDescription (Text(255)) 1 DontDoThat Hey! Don't do that!

I support an MS Access application in which errors are trapped using the On Error statement. Just recently, the users of this system have experienced run-time error number 3021 on a random basis. My biggest problem right now is that the error description associated with this error is Application-defined or object-defined error. It has always been my understanding that these error numbers would not be used by Microsoft and were available...

Please help I don't know if this is possible but what I would really like to do is to use On Error Goto to capture the code that is being executed when an error occurs. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

I'm trying to create a script that will accept a user entered integer and find only one set of prime numbers that add up to that integer but need some help. The script is supposed to only accept even numbers, and if it encounters an odd number it needs to exit with a "please enter only even numbers" message. I've made some progress on the script, but it still isnt quite rite. I already tried to code an error message for uneven input...

Does anything about this script look expensive, in terms of resources or execution time? This script dies after processing about 20 or 25 numbers, yet it leaves no errors in the error logs. This is on a server that handles a fairly demanding site. The defaults, in php.ini, have all been cranked fairly high: scripts get 180 seconds to run, and they can have as much as 256 megs of RAM. The input for this script is coming from a textarea in...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
