ReConnecting Front and Backend

Thank you for any and all assistance. I'm trying to build a small application.
On my computer the front and backend work great, until I change the name of the
original files to something else, or install it on a computer without MS
Access. Then the link is broken...HELP!

Is there a way to keep the link there, or relink the two databases?

From the front end select Tools, Database Utilities, Linked Table
Manager. Hit "Select All" and check the "Allways Prompt for New
Location" checkbox and click <OK>, locate your BackEnd .mdb file and
you should be good to go...

If you don't have Access installed on the target PC you'll need the
Developer edition of Access to get a license for the Runtime files
that you can then deliver to the client royalty-free.

I have the developer edition of 97, 2000 and 2002, but the only one I can get
to work is the 97. Is there another file, other than the Access and Workstation
file runtimes I need to connect the front and backends?

We have been developing in MS Access/VBA for nearly 10 years now and find we need to get with the times and look at a web type of front end to a more robust/multi user back end. I would be interested to here any thoughts on which way we should go. We currently have an IT Help Desk application that we need to duplicate in new technology (example at http:jackaroo.net.au) which needs to be able to have many users eg Corp wide and to handle...

I'm developing a small program that I would like to have a front and backend, so when I change the forms, all I have to do is upload the file on the frontend and if I change the tables, I can append the data. The problem I'm having is when I break the db, the front and backend go flawless. When I package and place in the P&D Wizard, I place both in with the Runtime and Workgroup along with relevant icons. When I install it on a foreign...

Thank you for your assistance in advance. I'm trying to figure out why on my computer the front and back ends are ok, when I use Access developer and set up the program with the front and back ends in the same install folder, I get errors and no way to reconnect the front and back end on the foreign computer. Is there something in the developer package that allows this to happen, that I'm not loading with the program and setup files? ...

Is this possible to have the 97 users with 97 front end, 2000 users with 2000 front end, 2002 users with 2002 front end, and 2003 users with 2003 front end all linked up to an access 97 backend? We are currently planning on upgrading workstations with either 2000, 2002, 2003. the criteria for the specific version will depend on the IT department. I would like to know if we have several different office versions will it work to have...

(I've tried this Q in the ms forums without response. See how it goes here.) Using A2003 but I guess this is not version-specific... If I want to implement row/record level locking on a split database where do I need to set this option. Is it sufficient to set it in the frontend database for record-level locking to apply to the backend tables. Or must I also set it in the backend mdb database instead or as well (which is never...

I need just opionions. I'm VB.NET programmer and I work with another front end HTML guy who doesn't know .Net and how to use the .Net controls. So far he has been unwilling or unable to learn .Net even though I have been training him, he hasn't caught on. He is good on "prettying up" the web pages in old HTML controls and javascript, which anybody can do. He says its better to do the front end first in HTML, then do the backend. By backend...

I have an Access 2000 database split front back end, what I want to do is have some kind of web based front end so users can logon via the internet and: 1. Enter new records, edit records in the database 2. Apply a filtering systems where records on a report can be limited to those matching a criteria, then print or PDF this filtered report including associated pictures.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
