Reconnecting Front to Back End

I took everyone that posted to this advice, however I get an error here in the
code:

Function fGetMDBName(str In As String) As String
'Calls GetOpenFileName dialog
Dim strFilter As String

strFilter = ahtAddFilterIte m(strFilter, _
"Access Database(*.mdb; *.mda;*.mde;*.m dw) ", _
"*.mdb; *.mda; *.mde; *.mdw")
strFilter = ahtAddFilterIte m(strFilter, _
"All Files (*.*)", _
"*.*")

fGetMDBName = ahtCommonFileOp enSave(Filter:= strFilter, _
OpenFile:=True, _
DialogTitle:=st rIn, _
Flags:=ahtOFN_H IDEREADONLY)
End Function

When it does that, press Ctrl-G to get into the Immediate Window and
then type:

?Err.Descriptio n

and press enter. Post the results here.

I always heard people saying IIS ASP front end, and MS-SQL back end. ASP is for server side programming and dynamic content generation, how could it is called front end? Because I thought it is executed in the server, which is back end? I think I am confused with the term front end and back end here. Please advise. Thanks!!

Thank you for any and all assistance. I'm trying to build a small application. On my computer the front and backend work great, until I change the name of the original files to something else, or install it on a computer without MS Access. Then the link is broken...HELP! Is there a way to keep the link there, or relink the two databases? Michael

I'm developing a small program that I would like to have a front and backend, so when I change the forms, all I have to do is upload the file on the frontend and if I change the tables, I can append the data. The problem I'm having is when I break the db, the front and backend go flawless. When I package and place in the P&D Wizard, I place both in with the Runtime and Workgroup along with relevant icons. When I install it on a foreign...

Thank you for your assistance in advance. I'm trying to figure out why on my computer the front and back ends are ok, when I use Access developer and set up the program with the front and back ends in the same install folder, I get errors and no way to reconnect the front and back end on the foreign computer. Is there something in the developer package that allows this to happen, that I'm not loading with the program and setup files? ...

Hi: I have an application that has a back end and a front end. I need to add a table which is identical to one in the back end, and then use it for a temporary holing place form some records. I have done the following: .. Copied the table in the back end and given the copy a new name .. Created a table with the identical name to the back end copy in the front end .. Used the linkage process to link the table reference in the front end...

Hello, We are in the process of examining our current main application. We have to do some major changes and, in the process, are questionning/validating the use of MS Access as front-end. The application is relatively big: around 200 tables, 200 forms and sub-forms, 150 queries and 150 repports, 5GB of data (SQL Server 2000), 40 users. I'm wondering what are the disadvantages of using Access as front-end? Other that it's not...

Hi all, Let's say I have a simple math formula: sum (x * y / 1000) / (sum z / 1000) I have to do this across 50 items, each with an x, y and z value, when the page first loads AND when a user modifies any of the x, y and z values.

I have deployed few Access apps splitting it in Front End and Back End. Our environment uses Win XP SP2 for clients, Win 2k3 for servers and Access 2003. The max. number of clients is about 50 (concurrent users is estimated around 10). Whilst the Back End always lives on a server, I am not quite clear where the Front End should live. I have searched the web and find contradicting views.

Sorry for the long post, I've tried so hard to solve this one but I'm just stuck! We've had a multiuser .mdb file on a network share for years. I know it's not ideal, but it's worked well from Access 2000 to 2003. Ever since we upgraded to 2007, we've noticed some serious bloating. When we were on 2003, after a fresh compact, the database would be at about 20 MB. After normal use it would grow to about 25 MB and then significantly...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
