Active Records in a multi-user setting

Bob
I have a database to be used in a multi-user
environment. Is there a way that within a query (which
my forms are based on) I can identify if a record is in
currently in use by another user? Beyond record locking,
I would like this query to actually skip any records
currently active, open, or otherwise have focus.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

We currently have a routine that "forks" out (to use the unix term)TSQL commands to run asynchronously via SQL Agent jobs. Each TSQL command gets its own Job, and the job starts immediately after creation. Sometimes we can have too many of these jobs running at the same, and the box crawls to a slow speed until the jobs finish up. Is there a way we can limit the number of active jobs running under the SQL Agent at one time? Or is...

Hi, I'm working on a multi-threaded application. I'm using ThreadPools. One of the requirements of the application is, if certain exception occurs all the counters have to be reset. I have noticed that some threads, even after resetting the counters, have the old values.

I was wondering how you handle active/inactive elements in a combo box. Let's say you have a combo box to select an employee. Joe Blow has been selected for many record however Joe has left the company and has been flagged inactive. If you have a filter on the rowsource like Where Active = True then Joe's name would not show up in the combo list. This would be fine if the combo is associated with a field that is null/0. It would not be...

Hello, I am attempting to split a raw data table into a new table that has split out a specific field in the raw data and created a new record for each split but I have come to an impasse due to my limited knowledge of sql. The Raw data contains a number of columns with key columns similar to Name, Product and Partcode. The issue is that the Partcode column in the raw data can contain multiple values split by either a "," or a

Hello everybody - my first post! And it may be the most monumentally stupid question ever asked, but I just can't see an answer after several hours experimenting, searching and reading. It's simply this - how can a function determine whether or not it's being called in handling of an exception (ie. there is an "active" exception, and somewhere upstream on the stack there is an except: block statement)? Depending on what you read,...

Hi, We have a Java application that runs against a variety of backends including Oracle and MSSql 2000 and 2005. Our application has a handful of active tables that are constantly being inserted into, and some of which are being selected from on a regular basis. We have a purge job to remove unneeded records that every hour "DELETE FROM <tableWHERE <datafield< <sometimestamp>". This is how we are purging because we need 100% up...

On my form I have combo boxes. These combo boxes, after updating them, populate respective listboxes that are located below the combo boxes on the same form. I am trying to use a "generate report" button located on my form to print all of the list box values (that have been updated via selection from combo boxes) from the form to the report. I've tried using a macro with the code: Macro Name: cmdGenerateReport : On Click Action:...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers.
