I want to create a 1-many relationship. Parent table has a primary
key, child table has no primary key. The child table does have an
index with all four fields of the parent's PK. How can I do this?
Thanks, Bob C.

Hi,
Do you guys know what's wrong with a one-to-one relationship?
The reason I want to make it like this is that at the very end of the chain,
the set of keys is huge. I want to limit the number of columns to be the
key. i.e. the table has 1 column as the key. The
table will have 2 columns as the key.

I'm building an action item database
among the tables are
Scope - A table that contains a scope of who gets assigned this task
AI Master - The master task (I want you to do this and other data)
Ai Detail - A group of entries for each work group/location/equip location

I'm using Access 2002, as front-end and back-end as well:
1) I faced database corrupted problems, when more than 1 user edit
concurrently.
I'm using All-records Locking, and open-exclusively as default.
But, still face the same problem: Database corrupted! (But, it allows
to be repaired)
2) I found that the relationship linkage between those related
tables(which corrupted) was disconnected/lost after problem (1)

Hello,
I have a report which uses a subreport. When I run the report, I get
"Enter Parameter Value" error message for "tblGuestRoom". I click ok
and the report seems to work fine.
I narrowed down this error to the Link Master Fields property setting,
when I tried the same scenario with form/subform. It gave me error:
'The Link Master fields property setting has produced this error: The
object doesn't contain the Automation object...

This is a strange one--
I have an Access 2K database with a split front end/back end. There
are two tables in the back end - RFile and RLine. There is a one to
many relationship from Rfile.Rnumber to Rline.Rnumber. Originally I
went in with the Relationships window, drew the line, and clicked the
cascading updates and deletes. Everything was fine, for a couple of
years.
All of the sudden however, this relationship seems to delete...

Ok...I'll first describe briefly what I've done.
Working from a paper form with over 200 fields - broken into 10 areas, I
created a database with 10 tables. I then created a form using those 10
tables, created queries and then reports based on those queries. All works
well until.... you complete a form and DO NOT fill one or more sections (in
other words not filling in an underlying table, then everything falls apart.
Example tables:

Hi all, What I'm trying to do and having a lot of trouble with is pulling how one user is related to another user from my database. I'll explain...
The table (relationships) looks like this:
ID
type: int
RELID1
type: int, is the user id that initiated the relationship request.
RELID2

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
