OrderBy closes and reopens the report

DFS
Access97:

I opened a report, then opened a small form that floats above it and lets
you choose report fields to sort on (by issuing the OrderBy statement).

Well, apparently OrderBy actually closes and reopens the report in the
chosen sort order, because my Report_Close and Report_Open events were
firing each time I set the OrderBy value from the form.

That would not be surprising. Access has to redo the entire report from the
start to reorder it.

Waste of time opening the report first I would have thought.
Open your form first, set the parameters, then fire the report.

Access 2000 I have inherited a database (.adp) that sets the input parameters for reports at run-time. It then saves the report before opening it to display to the user. This is a sample code: DoCmd.OpenReport strRpt, acViewDesign Reports(strRpt).InputParameters = strParams

The following code is used in my db to change the sort order of the report to various fields. I want to take this one stage further and use maybe a Case Select to give 2 or 3 different options to sort the report. Is ther any way I can adress the report name as is used in strDocName and strSQL so instead of having Reports!.OrderBy = strSQL

I should be able to figure this one out, but it's late: I'm trying to sort a report by two fields. I can do it easily if I hard-code the fields. However, I want to get user input and store the input in variables, which would then be used in the OrderBy method. Right now it looks like this and is not working: rptMember.OrderBy = strfield1, strfield2 What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm totally stuck. When I click on the "Preview" button for a report on the database window, pressing the <ESCAPEkey simply closes the report. But when I use DoCmd.OpenReport with acPreview on a form, pressing the <ESCAPEkey dumps the report into design mode. To add one more quirk, creating a new form, and using the wizard to create a Print Preview command button sets the report behavior back to normal, by closing the report clean on...

Hi guys Me again. I just cant seem to get the hang of .NET 2005. I am having a problem with viewing reports. I manage to publish and install my program on the clients machine but now i have made reports to help them view data. What happens is that they enter the name of the staff member which is then written to a table and then select the desired report. The first time a report is viewed it goes in no problem. Once they have finished...

I have a form which lists selected records, there could be anything from 1 record to all records selected. I want to output a report for each record as HTML. I want each file to take its name from a certain field (RecipeName), so can't simply put a page break in the report. Would it be possible to create a loop which opens the report hidden, then exports it to HTML, then closes the report, and does this for each selected record? Or would all...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies.
