Mailmerge no longer works with Word 2003

I have an application which does a lot of reports (letters) by automation
with Word. The mail merge main document is a Word template and I transfer a
text file out to a prenamed filename to act as the data source, then open a
..doc file from the template. The template has the name of the data file as
its data source. All worked fine in Word 2000 and Word 2002, but all of a
sudden, with Word 2003, I get an error message that says "This method or
property is not available because the document is not a mail merge main
document.". There is a Letter1 window opened, showing what looks like my
original template mailmerge main document - I can see the <<fieldname>>
symbols in it, but the mailmerge toolbar is all greyed out. Has anyone else
experienced this problem. My original templates were created in Word 2000
and the Access database that I do the automation from is also A2k. This is
really annoying as I can't say to people, sorry, it doesn't work if you
install Office 2003.

Some of our users have converted to Office 2003. Our Access app is in 2000. they run it in Access 2003 with Access 2000 as the default file format. When doing a merge from the partial code segment below, we had rec'd the : "Opening this will run the following SQL Command" message. We were able to suppress that message with registry changes and code contained in MSKB 82765.

I have a Word(2000) mailmerge routine (code below) which works OK but always names the merged document "Forml Letters1". How do I change this to something else? Also how do I automatically save the merged document to a specific destination? Dim wrdApp As Word.Application Dim wrdDoc As Word._Document

I have existing word documents that we need to have the data document reflect whether we're running in development, test or production. The data header is longer than 255 characters, so I cannot put the structure in either createdatasource or opendatasource so I have to build it on the fly. The code I have written is as follows:

Hope you can help. I have created a mail merge word doc which seems to work fine. When I close and reload it asks if I wish to pull in the data. Great. However, I want to print the results of the mail merge from within a VB.Net app. I can create and load the word app/doc, but the document is not opened as a mail merge doc. In fact the mail merge fields just appear as text. Any ideas please, or alternative was to do this.

I have a Word 2003 mail merge main document (form letter) that is linked to another Word document data source for the mail merge. If I open this doc using the Word GUI, it first asks me to confirm that I want to run a query to select the data from the data source file, then it opens the form letter fine. I can preview the merged records and complete a merge to a new document. I have a VB 2006 project (.net framework 2.0) which opens the...

Hi folks, I'm trying to create letters based on an Access database. I'm using Access 2003 and Word 2003. Most of the data tables are actually on a SQL server and Access is the front end for them. I have the boilerplate for my letter ready. Now, with Access open and connected to the SQL server, I open Word with the file I want, click "Tools", "Letters and Mailings" and select MailMerge. Word allows me to select the document type, with...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
