Hi:
When Access opens, the user gets a glimpse of table lists and other ugliness before the
startup screen appears (set in the startup process). Is there some way that i can avoid
this and even maybe have some sort of image or form that appears. The key issue is when a
user opens the applications, I don't want them to see the "engine", just the user end of
the application.

John,
Tools + StartUp
Remove the check from the Display Database Window box.
To show the database window while the database is open, press F11.
To bypass the startup completely, hold down the Shift key when opening
the database.

You can place a .bmp file with the same name as the app, in the same
directory as your app, and it will show up as your "splash screen".

There are situations in which you have to setup a faily sophisticated
environment before running your tests. This may result in a long
startup
time. In my case (using PloneTestCase) the time taken to import all
the
needed libraries, create a plone site and set up the environment, is
so
long that practically I cannot use my good old Pentium II for running
the test cases. Notice that the problem is not in the time spent on

It happens much too often that I have to tell a client how to fix up missing
references when I send them an application, especially if the client is
distributing it to different users. It makes me look unprofessional (which I
guess I am to some extent). I've tried the fixuprefs() function I got from
the knowledge base (that uses the qryTestRefs and checks for error 3075),
but it doesn't seem to get called, and I still get the problem. I'm...

I'm using VB.Net 2005 beta 2 and have my login form (login.vb) specified as
the startup form. If the user is successful logging in, I call my main form
(main.vb). This all works fine but the problem is that the login form stays
open. I put a me.close (in the login form) after opening the main form but
that seems to close everything and the main form is not displayed.
I thought I could call a Sub Main() that calls the login form, closes...

We are building a suite of programs consisting of both winforms applications
and
office addins.
We would like to pre-generate the xml-serialization classes and add it to
our project to
avoid the overhead at startup and thus enhance the performance of our
applications.
The programs are coded in c# under .net 1.1.

This is probably a silly question, but I've gotten myself confused.
My app has two forms, form1 and form2. form1 is the start up object in the
propers. An event in form1 instantiates form2.
Dim myForm as HardwareStore
myForm = New HardwareStore
myForm.Show()
I understand that my form2 can be referenced by

Hi,
For a resource constrained embedded system I want to avoid malloc.
Currently I have various "library" modules that hide their data behind
opaque pointers. Because I read that was a good thing.
For example in the interface foo.h
typedef struct foo_t *foo_t;

Hello,
I know that macros are evil, but I recently came across a problem
that I couldn't figure out how to solve with templates.
I wanted to create a set of singleton event objects, and wrote the
following macro:
#define GET_SINGLETON_EVENT_FUNCTION(FUNCTION_NAME,MANUAL_RESET,\
INITIAL_STATE,EVENT_NAME) \

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
