Need help on reinstall of Access 97, only opens in Runtime mode

RWC
Hello,

I have a problem. I recently uninstalled office 97 and re-installed it.
When I went to open Access up, it would only open in RUntime mode. I
uninstalled all runtime software from my computer, still only opened in
runtime mode. So, I uninstalled office again, and re-installed it and STILL
it's only opening in runtime mode. I checked the command line and there is
no runtime switch in the command line. I looked through the registry
entries to see if there was anything that looked odd, but didn't see
anything (and didn't really know what I was looking for specifically). Does
anyone have any idea what I might try to get Access operating again? Thanks
in Advance!

Has the machine ever had a newer version of Office installed? I have
seen the Office 2K small business edition cause this problem because
it installs the Access 2K runtime. Uninstalling Office 97 and
reinstalling leaves the Access 2K runtime intact. After uninstalling
Office 97, try searching your hard drive for msaccess.exe. If it is
still there, check its version to investigate. HTH

Thanks Rick,

I didn't think I had installed anything but Access97 on the machine, but
come to think of it, I may have installed an A2K runtime program on it a
while back. I'll review it again in the morning, and hopefully, that will
resolve my problem. Will let you know.

Thanks!

Through the LDB viewer we are seeing one of our servers in the "users listed" list. The information is legitimate as we have code that is dependent on the non-presence of the LDB file. The code is failing to execute because even programmatic access to the MDB file produces the LDB file. While it is my understanding the accessing the MDB in "exclusive" mode will not produce the LDB file I am not certain if the developer opens in...

We have a citrix server that users will be signing into from a remote location. One application is an Access database. Right now, lan users are using the Access 2003 runtime to run these applications. Installing the runtime on the citrix server(s) isn't a big deal. The catch is, I want to install a copy of the full version of Access so that I can sign in and do some developing if I have to. Is it possible to have both the runtime...

I have inherited a bunch of dbs which are are shared among a small group in my dept. We typically use the dbs to write queries to extract data, usually dumping it into Excel. Most dbs originated in MsAccess 97 or prior and have been converted to 2003. On occassion user 1 will open a db. When user 2 opens the db it will not let user 2 modify macros and what not. I can understand this and realize we could split the db; it is not worth ...

I have an asp.net ecommerce web application on a remote web server. I'm using an Access database on the back end. I've notice a few strange things. When I mimic an multiple user environment by surfin it in multiple browsers simultaneously the site generates a generic runtime error after awhile. I'm thinking this has something to do with my access database and multiple connections. I'm using forms authentication with a login page. Is...

Hello - This is my first posting to this group, so please bear with me. Also note, that while I'm intelligent, databases are not in my field of knowledge. I'm working with a small limousine company. They presently have about 4 networked computers, all running Windows XP (w/SP2) and Microsoft Office 2000 (specifically Access 2000) - and a plain jane p3 server also running Windows XP (w/sp2) with Office 2000 loaded onto it. Hi !! I'm about to develop a new project for a client. Should I go about it in Access 2003 or 2007 ? Purchasing it either for me or for my client is not a major consideration here ... what I'd like to know is the stability, speed & ease of use of both the products. I believe Access 2007 has a new file format too and that it may be slower.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
