I've installed SP8. Why does ACCW2K3 insist on reminding me, upon
attempting to open an MDB: 1: that unsafe expressions are not blocked
(I don't care; this is an internal protected app);
2: that when I say "no", a hugo largo window pops up, advising me that
I have to install SP8 to block unsafe expressions (I've already a)
installed SP8 and b) told Access that I don't want to block them; and
3: of a final security warning that restates what the previous two
windows warned about, and gives me one final chance to abort (if I'm
come this far, you're damn right I want to open the file!!)?
This is preposterous. Why all the hoo-hah about SP8 when I've already
installed it? Explanations and a fix, please. 3 5046
Mr. Phil:
1.) Reinstall sp 8 if you haven't already from a clean boot.
2.) Blocking unsafe expressions really is recommended since VBA and DAO can
be instantiated from many other places outside access and functions like
Kill can have disasterous results.
3.) Even when you've done all the above, unless your Security settings in
the Tools->Macros-> Security Settings is set to low, A2K3 will still prompt
you with a one time warning about potential security issues when opening ANY
db whether it contains VB code or not. The only way around that is to
create a self signed digital certificate and add that to all your dbs and
indicate when opening a db the first time that you "trust" yourself and your
own certificate.

Ugly. Just plain ugly. We have ~650 Access users (and I mean
base-level users). Now I have to tell them to set security? Or to
apply digital certificates to the hundreds of MDBs we use?
How about someone just supplies me with the registry key for the
security setting, and we'll hack it in our login script? This other
folderol is for the birds.

Hi Guys,
How are you? I have recently begun some testing on IIS 6.0 in regards
to an asp.net application. After lots of testing I decided to create a
simple 1k page size webpage to find out whats the max rps I can
achieve. So I installed Microsoft Application Stress Tool (WAS) and
started testing. I setup basic 2 tests page does no processing

I have both cdosys.dll and cdonts.dll on my W2K3 server.
We have been told by our web authors that their asp code won't work on our
machine and that we don't have CDONTS installed on our machine.
They're getting an error from:
Set objCDOMail = Server.CreateObject("CDONTS.NewMail")
I know that the new format is:

Hi,
I've hit quite a strange problem with XmlSerializer on my W2K3 server. When
I serialize/deserialize using an exe on my local computer (XP), everything
works fine. When I put the code out on the server (W2K3) it throws an
exception. It only seems to happen when serializing/deserializing _arrays_
of a type. If I just serialize/deserialize one instance, it works fine.
The exception I get is: (sorry for the word wrapping.)...

I'm attempting some remote registry manipulation via C#. I've written a test
app to simply grab a specified key from a specified hive on a specified
machine. The call to OpenSubKey is throwing System.SecurityException.
Also of note: Sitting at my local box, I can open regedit and connect to the
remote registry. I see three hives: _CLASSES_ROOT, _LOCAL_MACHINE, and
_USERS. I can open all but HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. When I try to expand that...

Hi,
We upgraded our W2K for a W2K3 server at the beginning of the year.
It's purpose is to handle TS distribution of a couple of MS-ACCESS 97
apps
stored locally on the server.
The server is stable. But there are some slow downs within the apps.
Anything involving a file access is slow.
Let's suppose that I want to open a file from within MS-ACCESS.

Hi -
I have 4 webservers in my webfarm. All Win2k3 web edition. Before
yesterday, none of them were service packed. I have now applied SP2 to two
of them, and I'm getting a very weird MSDTC error on them now.
The error occurs when I attempt a series of SQL statements wrapped in a
TransactionScope(). It's executing against a different server, so this is
where it's elevated to a distributed transaction.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
