database to be used by 2 remote users

I'm making a database using the Developer's Edition. The client will need 2
copies of the runtime edition, one for herself and one for her virtual
assistant located in another county. Both of these people are running
Windows XP. Instead of using replication to keep the two copies
synchornized, would it be possible to use Remote Access? So that the virtual
assistant would be actually updating the db on the main client's computer?
TIA

Yes, you can get remote access software that works across the Internet. I
haven't used it, but the prime contractor for whom I subcontracted in the
past used it for some adminstrator work on the client's system. He had both
pcAnywhere and ReachOut.

I was thinking that Windows XP Remote Access might do it, but third party
software wouldn't be out of the question. Thanks!

I haven't used Windows XP, except for some brief sessions on someone else's
machine, so I don't know the capabilities. Assuming it provides "remote
access" in a manner similar to the third-party products, I can't see why it
wouldn't work -- that is, you need something that transmits keystroke and
screen update information from/to the device where the user is located, and
runs the application on the device that is remote from the user.
Thanks!

You're welcome.

Keep in mind that two people can't use the PC at the same time,
since the user sitting at the PC has to be logged off in order to
allow the remote user to log on.

Hi: Some time ago I developed a program in Access, and separated the database and the program itself (using the normal access tools). We have the db on our server and the programin the desktop system. I have modified the program a number of times, and now find that I need to change the DB slightlt. This appears to require that I REMERGE the data base and program, and I have no idea how to do that. Can someone give me some pointers,...

Okay, a rather 'interesting' situation has arisen at a place I work: I need to convert a database from Access to something that can be used over the web. I am currently maintaining and developing a mid-sized Access database (60 tables, 25 simultaneous users). Although I've been tossing up if I should try to convert the back end to SQL server (We have a license), the performance has been good enough that it always seemed a waste of time,...

In an application I am writing the user can define a series of steps to be followed. I save them in a sql database using the field "order" (a smallint) as the primary key. (there are in the range of 20 steps) On the admin page the steps are listed, in "order" order and the user can create new steps and assign an order and all is well. The problem may come in using a renumber function which should take the steps in their current order...

I'm trying to access an access database on the file server from a web server using asp.net and IIS 6.0. I can do it when I have anonymous access enabled in IIS 6.0 as in the public internet web site style. I want to do the same with the intranet setup where IIS 6.0 is not setup to allow anonymous access. The way the intranet works is the user authenticates to the IIS 6.0 web server through group membership in an active directory domain. ...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
