NewB: Connecting to Database?

Rob
Is there a way of connecting to a database on my server using Microsoft
Access.

I want to be able to modify my database without having to download it,
ammend it and then upload it back again

My account supports MySQL but i dont really know much about this

Any help will be appreciated

Many thanks

As a start you might take a look at the presentation I did for my user group
on "Access as an ODBC Client" that you can download from
http://appdevissues.tripod.com/downloads.htm.

MySQL has available an ODBC driver called MyODBC. I haven't used it, but
others have reported doing so.

I am assuming you mean a server machine on your LAN, not a web server.
Accessing your database on a webserver is a bit more complex.

There is no Microsoft Access MVP named Jay Bartol. See the updated list at

http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/def...le=toc#faq1152

There is a Don P Mellon who posts this kind of response, and has taken to
using this one which causes pop-up after pop-up when you realize it is phony
and try to leave it.

Before, he would use the actual Access FAQ site http://www.mvps.org/access
(whether or not it had anything to do with the particular question, but it
is a good site with a lot of good Access information and, at least, it
didn't lure you into a chain of pop-up windows.

Hi I have a newb PHP/Javascript question regarding checkbox processing I'm not sure which area it falls into so I crossposted to comp.lang.php and comp.lang.javascript. I'm trying to construct a checkbox array in a survey form where one of the choices is "No Preference" which is checked by default. If the victim chooses other than "No Preference", I'd like to uncheck

I have Enterprise Manager on my local machine. For the last twelve months it has been connecting without problem to my online SQL Server database provided by my ISP. Three weeks ago the ISP applied some sort of extra security arrangements to their SQL Server to allow access only through port 1433. they have told me to configure an alias using Network Client and to register this alias in the usual way using my Enterprise Manager. My...

Hi all, I would like to ask for some help regarding separating the asp.net webserver and the sql server. I have created an asp.net application for a certain company. Initially, we installed both the iis and sql server in a single machine. Not too long ago, the machine had some hardware problems, and management has decided to purchase new servers, for both asp.net and sql server.

I realize how I'm going about this is somewhat odd. I have to construct a program for windows mobile that only sends a couple queries to a remote MySQL server and hopefully gets some success/fail returns. (I've got VS2008 pro and the winmobile SDKs) The 2 problems I have: 1) I'm very well versed in C++, and I know a little C#. I managed to compile some simple winmobile programs, but I'd be more comfortable grabbing a couple of walkthroughs...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
