Link Table in Access 2000

Is there a limit on the number of columns that a table can have when
you link to the table using Access 2000?

Attempting to set up a link to an Oracle table that has 300+ columns -
(reason for this denormalized table is for a web application). When we
link to this table we are only seeing the first 255 columns in Access
2000.

We have successfully linked several other Oracle tables getting all
the columns but the number of columns on these tables that where
successfully linked are no where near 300.

thanks

Yes, 255 is the limit. You'll need to ask the Oracle DBA to make 2 updatable
views, and you can link to those instead.

Something strange has happened on my computer. I am unable to link tables from SQL Server 2000. I have tried from Access 97 and 2000, but keep getting the error "The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object 'tablename'..." I have SQL Server 7 and SQL Server 2000 installed as an instance on the same computer. Linking has always worked fine previously, but something has obviously changes in the meantime. I tried to...

Hello, I am converting an Access database on our network to a sql 2000 backend and keeping access as the front end. The access database has evolved and been a solution to collect data but now we want to move the tables over to sql 2000. We have successfully done that but are now having difficulties with an ODBC connection. Initiall linking the tables is not an issue and I am able to connect with no problem. However after closing down...

I wrote a C# asp.net app. that uses MS Access as a backend. I forgot include in my design that the Link tables would break when I deployed the application to the "Live" server. The problem is: I can connect to the share on the "live" server but the person who will periodically update the Database cant --he has to use a SSH Secure File Transfer Client. So I can change the path in the "Link Table Manager" to "\\Newserver\NewShare\etc.."...

We use Access 97. We are in the process of migrating to 2003 along with SQL in most cases. We have a production database that contains a pretty important table and we would like to know which other databases on our network link to this table. The reason is because we plan to add/remove certain fields in this table when we put it in SQL but we would like to know ahead of time which databases will be affected by this. I seem to...

Ok' I have 2 tables. The first being my main table where each record has a 'FigureID' txt box. (Indexed - No duplicates) The second being my sub table where reporting is entered for these Figures. Sometimes more than one at a time. I have 4 'FigureID' txt boxes on this subtable.(All Indexed - Duplicates OK) When I set the Master/Child link for the first FigureID on the Subtable I have no problems.

I am a VB6 database programmer and have run into a small problem. The company I work for primarily uses Microsoft Access 2000 for the database that is the back end for our software. Well the functionality that I am currently working on creates a table in one database and then links it into the primary database that is used by the program to store and retrieve data from. Here's the problem. I can create the table fine but when I go to link the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
