access record overwritten

Hi,

I have found to my distress that my newly created printer consumables
database is overwriting exisitng records when i search my printer
history form.

Basic i have a form that have a combo box selects a printer record.
The 'task' history of the printer record is then displayed in the
subform ' printer history sub'.

Also i have 4 text boxes than update 'on change' using the following:
Forms![printer history]![Text35] = Forms![printer
history]![Combo33].Column(1)
Forms![printer history]![Text37] = Forms![printer
history]![Combo33].Column(2)
Forms![printer history]![Text39] = Forms![printer
history]![Combo33].Column(3)
Forms![printer history]![Text41] = Forms![printer
history]![Combo33].Column(4)

The text boxes supply information on the printer_id record selected in
the combo box.

This form works fine until the middle scroll wheel on my mouse is
flung round at any speed.
The printer_id field appears not to change (and the drop down list
does not appear) during this however the four text fields update with
scrolling.(the subform does not change either).

When i return to the table i find that entries have altered to records
from other records.

I have locked the text boxes so that they cannot be ammended.

Weird and highly distressing!! Any suggestions....

A better alternative might be being able to show all printer details
in the combo box rather than just the printer_id (a record generated
number) thus i would no longer need the four text boxes.

I am trying to get a record count of a PHP query on a MS Acess database using ODBC with a DSN for MS ACCESS connection. I got this code from the PHP manual user notes. It seems to return the correct recount if the count is greater than 0. It the count is 0 it returns the value of the $transid variable in the code. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? I need something that returns 0 if not records are found and an accurate count...

Dear All, I have been developing a small access database, but I am new to security concepts with access. This is a multiuser database, I have a table which will be written by various users through a form as an interface. At the moment, there is an authorId field on the form (other details of authors are in a separate table connected to this table with the authorID) , and every user select their initials from a combo for the record they...

I have been unable to locate anywhere the answer to my problem. I would like to be able to download/import a single record. This record is stored in many different related (one to one) tables. I have saved a single record to Excell and then to a floppy by using a query, to save the parts of the record I want then "Save as" "Excell". The problem is being able to take it from the floppy/USB drive and import it to the same, but in a different...

I'm adding and updating records in an Access .mdb via WWW .asp page. Authored in Dreamweaver 2004 MX. Help is welcome on this one. I have a great set of pages that work fine, but it seems that insert or update pages don't always work now on some records . . . It seems that when lots of text is shoved into a memo fields the database ID for that record gets messed up. Intial record insertion goes OK, but updating is then hosed.

I have a form which connects to 2 access tables. Table 1 has drop down combo box for ID. If the combo box record is changed the corresponding record is to be changed in Table table 2. Everything works fine. What I need to do is, if there no selected record in table 2 I need to add a record and assign the ID. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I am new to VB.net but am familiar with VB. Any input is appreciated. Thanks, - kumar

I have created a DataSet DataTable which is comprised of data from a number of sources. The resultant datatable is about 500,000 records and writing them out one at a time takes forever. Does anyone have some example code or tell me how to dump a datatable to Access. One problem is that the datatable structure changes and I would like to create a generic method, which scans the datatable column types and builds the Access table on the...

When I copy an Access record to the clipboard it automatically copies the field names along with it. In this particular case I don't want that to happen. Is there by any chance a way to only copy the record's values itself? Thanks, john

Hello, I am trying to create an excel macro, that when clicked... a specific cell will match a record in my database, and update certain fields in this record. The Excel file will have a cell that is the same as a 'Tracking Number' (the primary key) of my Access Table. The output from excel would access this record and update the field. I currently have a macro to create new records in the table, but I am not sure if there is a way to...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
