Although a lot of postings in the past discuss the subject of A2000
and Unicode support, I couldn't find what I was looking for.
My institute is compiling a dictionary of early middle dutch. The
sources used for this dictionary contain a lot of very specific
characters. Many of them are not available in current font sets, so we
made them ourselves (unicode). Now they have to be used in Access.
What I want to know is if it is possible to use 'home made characters'
in Access 2000 or 2002. Second, is it possible to use two or more
fonts within one field, e.g. a Unicode font and a non-Unicode font.
And finally, can I make part of a field bold, italic etc. or becomes
the whole field bold or italic (just as in A97)?

Access 2000 supports Unicode.

Well, maybe if you gave some examples (Unicode code points?) of the
characters you mean here. The word "home made characters" below makes me a
little concerned whether you are referring to Unicode code points.

No, unless you store rich text and specify the fonts in the RTF. But there
is no such thing as "non-Unicode fonts" under Windows and Access, with the
exception of symbol fonts.
And finally, can I make part of a field bold, italic etc. or becomes
the whole field bold or italic (just as in A97)?
Same answer as the rich text (RTF) answer above.
But please note that DATA STORAGE has nothing to do with font choices or
bold/italic style choices -- the data is independent of this.

Hi,
I've recently upgraded from Access 97 to Access 2002 & the performance
basically stinks. I have tried the following items listed below but it
has only had a minor impact:
1) Upgraded Jet 4 to Service Pack 7
2) Set Subdatasheet Name to from
3) Shortened the file name of the .MDB file
4) Made sure the Track name AutoCorrect info is off

Is there a way to display Asian fonts in Access 97? If not, how about
subsequent versions? One thought is I was able to display Asian fonts
in Visual Basic using a browser control, which in turn could display
unicode fonts. Is this option available in Access 97 or other
versions? Any help or information in this area would be much
appreciated.

Currently I am working on a Visual Basic program that makes use of an

The program works correctly on Windows 2000, however when it is used

I am automating Access reports to PDF using PDF Writer 6.0. I've
created a DTS package to run the reports and schedule a job to run this
DTS package. If I PC Anywhere into the server on where the job is

Been using Access 97 for years. I use a statistics add-on (Total
Access Statistics) which is kind of expensive and I haven't found
anything to be gained by upgrading. But I'm now told I probably should
because of memory issues with Access 97 which are getting increasingly
fussy.
I'm told that, at best, Access 2007 isn't really very good, that the
better memory management came with 2003.
