What am I doing wrong that I never receive any reply??

What do I have to do to get help from other newsgroup members?
Whenever I try to get help from the NG I never get results...

If I do something wrong, please tell me about it!

Post your problem. If it makes sense, someone will answer. If it is a ploy
to get to the address book of my email system (like this has tried to do)
you are out of luck.

Can't speak for everyone, Stephan, but your two previous messages involve
doing things differently to the way I do them, so personally I have no
suggestions on how to achieve what you are trying to do.

Don't know if that is also the case for other n.g. posters.

It's that bit of spinach between your teeth, it's putting everybody
off (only kidding).

For me, I don't look at every post, I used to at one time but then
there were fewer posters here, I took less groups than I do nowadays
and I had more time on my hands but since you asked nicely I have gone
back and answered both of your questions (hopefully successfully).

Thanks to everybody who replied to my postings,

As my email account now after my last postings has been targeted for a
massive SPAM attack, this will be the last posting I do.
I wonder how all the other NG members can cope with all these SPAMs
that you receive after each NG posting. It certainly goes on my
nerves.
Hope that all these SPAMers enjoy what they are doing as they seem to
have big sexual or brain problems.

Well, stopping posting ain't gonna stop the spam, you get used to it,
learn to brush it off, it's a fact of life (although now illegal to do
it from the UK). There's 3 things you can be sure of once your address
goes onto just one usenet message:

1. You will get spam.
2. You will get spam.
3. You will get spam.

Less certain but likely are:

1. You will build up blocked senders and mail filters.
2. You will re-install windows and lose them all :-)

My main mail provider (easynet) filters most of the spam for me, last
count probably about 1200 a month.

Disable the e-mail address that is being spammed or virus-attacked. Get
another one and let your normal correspondents know the new one. Then don't
ever use that e-mail address in your newsgroup postings, or use it in a form
that it isn't easy for a spammer's software to "harvest".

That is, if you really feel the need to let someone contact you by e-mail,
you could take an address like jo********@some where.xyz and show it as
john dot smith take this out at somewhere take this out too dot xyz.

But, there's no real need to post your e-mail address in a newsgroup unless
you're looking for "pen pals". And, this isn't the place to do that -- see
the FAQ at http://www.mvps.org/access/netiquette.htm.

Several months ago I started a thread with the title "What is/is not considered to be good OO programming" which started a long and interesting discussion. I have condensed the arguments into a single article which can be viewed at http://www.tonymarston.net/php-mysql/good-bad-oop.html I fully expect this to be the start of another flame war, so sharpen your knives and get stuck in!

I am makeing a Multicast server client setup and was wondering what the difference is between Socket.Connect, and Socket.Bind. It may be a stupid question, but I was just curious. Because I tried a test, and I can't bind two sockets to the same port/ip but I can connect with one socket, and bind with another to the same ip/port. Thanks

Hi, I have created a mesh class in visual studio 6.0 c++. I can create a device, render objects and can edit the objects by for instancnce selecting a cluster of vertices and processing the vertices and can do this multiple times on a sinlge vertex cluster. The problem I have been encoutering is that, if I select a second vertex cluster and try to edit that , the program crashes.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
