How may Install IE from windows VISTA

222 New Member
Hello

My boss asked me to uninstall IE from windows vista as we usually do in windows xp sp2 from windows components. Unfortunately I didn't find any method for doing that & base on google research it looks impossible because it is a part of vista code. "I don't know if that is true."

Any one know how can I stop using IE on vista?

Best regards

Hello,

First of all, I expect to know the version of IE and Vista that you are using.

it looks impossible because it is a part of vista code.
Nope...IMO, IE is an independent web browser and it is not part of vista code. To uninstall IE7 from your Vista installation, this link may help. As the article says, there's another method that lies somewhere on that site to uninstall IE7 which I suppose you can find yourself.

Hope this helps....

Well, IE has been an essential part of Windows for quite a few versions, but you can remove parts of it. You could do that with Windows XP (there were still parts left though) and you can probably do it with Vista too. I guess, that Link ambr gave you should help.

Hello

Appreciate your reply.

Actually I read this link above it looks that I can uninstall IE7 to get IE 6

After you uninstall Internet Explorer 7, double-click the Internet Explorer icon to verify that Internet Explorer 6 is restored.
What i really need is to uninstall the whole IE from my vista.

My goal is preventing user to navigate IE on vista and the same time user needs to use M. O. outlook to receive and send his/her emails.
I am not able to use router filter.

Any other comments would be also appreciated.

THANK YOU AGAIN.

I think you could use the group policy editor to rather than stop your users running IE prevent them surfing the web with it, which is what I assume you are trying to do.

Of course you could install Firefox and change the IE link on the desktop so that it starts Firefox instead! Most people won't realise anyway. ^^

You can also just remove the IE symbol and only offer a Firefox symbol - I don't think anyone will really mind. If in doubt, you can call the Firefox symbol "Internet" or something like that.

@Banfa
yes this is what I am trying to do.

I don't want users to surf the internet. I thought it is easy to uninstall IE from vista as SP2 and make a limited user so he will not be able to install it again.

I already stopped all USB ports & CR Roms in our computers.
.
I think you could use the group policy
In reality I didn't know that it exists policies for doing that.

Could you please provide me any helpful link.

Appreciate you all again

best regards.
