delete windoes

i got a computer given to me that had virus and well it wont in to windoes so i put my linux disk and it locks up is there any way to delete windoes so i get delete the virus and put linux on it I was thinking boot to dos make it a slave drive and format it that way

Well, your question is not clear to me. Can you post it in more detail?

But I think you wanna delete WINDOWS and all it's components? So first of all backup all the files and then download FREEDOS (an open source DOS) from the link below:-

and then format the partition with windows on it.

Boot to DOS and FDisk your hard drive.
