I have an ASP.NET application set up on my local hard drive with all pages,
dlls, and SQL server on local machine. However, I have discovered that if I
reboot my machine without a network cable plugged in, and then try to run
the application, I get the following:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
SQL Server does not exist or
access denied.

Is there an event or notification that my application can receive when a USB
device (or other) is plugged in?
I have looked at WMI as this appears to be the right area but cannot see how
to get notification when this particular event occurs. The same goes for
removal as well.
TIA

Hi everybody,
I got the code for dimming a menu item from this group after looking
for it for a long time thanks to those who share their experiences with
the others :)
The problem I'm facing is that it dims the wrong menu item!! Example,
if I write "DoCmd.SetMenuItem 0, 2, , acMenuGray", it dims the 3rd
command in the 2nd menu!! It's driving me crazy!

Hi,
I'm looking for a way of checking whether a specific USB device (a
webcam) is plugged in. I have the Vendor and Product ID numbers for the
device.
I found an article (http://www.vsj.co.uk/articles/display.asp?id=600)
with code sample that does the trick for human input devices (mouse,
keyboard, ...) but am struggling for my webcam.

Hi guys
I'm doing some school work and created a box which does nothing but stream videos on a network. This box runs Fedora 5 with gnome desktop manager.
Because all the box is doing is playing video there is no activity (there is no keyboard or mouse plugged in). Is there any way to disable the power mode and stop the screen saver. I need to monitor to stay on.
Thanks

I am looking into building a C# app that will let the user enter
information which will then be formatted and displayed on a separate
screen. I guess I could either show the formatted data in a new
windows form or in a web browser.
The system will be set up on a lap top so the user will be viewing the
lap top screen for data entry, but the second window will be shown on
a large tv screen.
My question is - is there any way to make sure...

it posibly software corruption?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
