I'm trying to figure out how to distinguish a CD drive from a DVD drive. I
thought it would be as simple as using WMI, but the properties that would
distinguish between the 2 don't seem to exist (at least on my system).
Win32_LogicalDisk makes no distinction.
I thought I could with Win32_CDROMDrive, by using the MaxMediaSize, but that
property doesn't exist.
I then downloaded the MS WMI Tools and used the WMI browser. I can't seem to

Hello Developers,
I am developing an application using Visual C++ .NET Windows Forms. I would
like to add CD or DVD burning functionality into my application. I want to
burn a data cd or dvd. I could not find any documentation about burning a cd
or dvd. Things that I found do not have enough explanations. I am requesting
your guidance.
Thank you very much in advance.

Do anny of you know a CD/DVD Writing
activex/api/com/whatever other then NCTDiscWriter 2.2,
Magic CD/DVD Writer ActiveX, or the Nero SDK (i would
love to work with the nero SDK, but seeing that SDK is
only for C++, i'm not up to that at the moment.).
I only need it to burn a data DVD of a pre-defined list
of files on HD.

I have some shareware CD/DVD burning software that has a command line
interface, perfect for writing you own CD/DVD custom burning software.
I have an app that burns a few DVDs. Recently I have had some problems
with good burns. Occasionally a recently burned DVD is unreadable. At
least one file will get a CRC error when trying to read it. So I wrote
a simple verification program that makes sure all files on a CD/DVD
are readable. Now, I...

My ASP.NET/VB.NET web application has been running fine until today.
When I go to the intranet site's start page, I get a "Server Error in
/AppName" error and the text for the error reads "The media is write
protected". This is the first time any of us have seen this error. Our
web application does not interact at all with any kind of media: CD
ROM, Floppy, DVD ROM - none of it. What would cause this type of error
in an ASP.NET/VB.NET web...

Hi, there have been loads of posts about this problem on loads of forums and
I have tried everything suggested (except the stuff I’m not comfortable with
like deleting drivers and reg. edits).
I have an HP Pavilion dv2130ea laptop computer with XP media edition and sp2.
I have had lots of automatic updates recently.
When I boot my computer, everything is fine.

Hello,
I'm wondering if anyone out there is aware of any .NET CD/DVD burning
component. I'm really just interested in burning files to CD/DVD do I
don't care about MP3/MPEG-2 support or anything like that. What I
basically need is the ability to put files and folders onto the CD/
DVD. Ideally it would work on IOStreams so that I could do it all in
memory with MemoryStream's.
Some of the things I would like but are not necessary:

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
