Registry setting to increse the time interval between Login Screen and Desktop load

308 Contributor
HI,

I created the process which is hook to launch just before the Desktop appears and after the login credentials are entered by the machine owner. In Xp it is giving the expected result i.e. my process is running properly .. can say surely because the UI Interface of the executable is appearing before desktop appears.
But in Windows server 2008 .. It seems to be not working because no UI interface is appearing when user is logging in . Why this is happing so..?

My guess is - Completion time for the process i.e. wait for exit time may be longer that the duration between Appearing Login window and the desktop loads..

If My this understanding is true.. Can anyone tell me "How can I increse the time interval between Login Screen appears and Desktop loads.." .. is there exists any registry entry for this ..?

Thanks!

Hey all - I'm having a really confusing problem concerning a web service. Right now, I have an application that needs to call a web service that does nothing but return "true" (this will obviously change once the program's fully built to actually do something, but for testing, it works). The only code I added to the service is below:

Hi. I've deployed a web application on a desktop computer running W2K and IIS. I'm using the desktop as a server. When I try to access the site, either from my development computer or if I log in to a remote machine, the site works fine for me and I'm able to access the aspx pages with no problems. When others try to access the site, it asks them for there login ID, password and domain.

hi all, I thought I would give this back and see if anyone could improve on it. I was working with the remote registry class. This code opens the ScreenSaverIsSecure registry setting and changes it to not require a password prompt anymore. One change that would be helpful is to somehow figure out how to include an IP address where the server name is called. I suspect it is a syntax I am missing. This morning I was running it from...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
