hi ...

first of all ... there are no 'stupid' questions initially ... even when there might be a trivial answer ... one of the worst things i could imagine is the fear to ask a question ... no matter what it is ... so ask your questions without thinking about its triviality ... when you need an answer and you don't find one for yourself ... simply ask :) ... nobody should tell you that you asked a stupid question ... and when you appreciate the answer ... the respondent will feel good as well and you got an answer ... it's kind of bilateral satisfaction ... and a forum like this one is a place where you should find that :)

to your question: the answer is ... you don't need to know what preliminaries the software has ... it should know that for itself and in case it needs a jvm or .net-framework it has to tell you ... and in most cases it will do :)

kind regards

I'm in the middle of writing a scientific program with a number of very, very long formulae. You can see a typical one below. What I would like to do is to parse this code to yield an AST, identify identical subtrees, replace them in the AST with a dummy variable to which I will assign the common subexpression. v21c = ((1-2*nu)*((2*(1-nu)ctB*ctB-nu)*log(Ry3bar) - \ (2*(1-nu)*ctB*ctB+1-2*nu)*cB*log(Rz3bar)) - \...

Anyone want to give me a hand to write efficient algorithms for Highest Common Factor and Lowest Common Multiple? This is what I have so far... Caveat: I haven't gone over the following code in detail, so there might be a subtle bug lurking somewhere. unsigned HCF(unsigned const a, unsigned const b) { unsigned bigger,smaller;

I am working in ASP .NET 2.0 and have a Web application which requires many (48) DropDownList s which all need to show the same data list; and the list is like 400 items long. I have been working in the industry for many years and have no problem in building the data list from a DB, attaching it to all 48 controls, and having the app/page work OK, but (as you experts are no doubt saying) the page re-draw is painful and the size of the delivered...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
