how to close a file from cmd?

2 New Member
I have 2 Word files opened in my Windows XP OS. I can close them both by using next comand in cmd: "taskkill winword". But this command will close both files since it kills the process. How can I close only one file, not both? What command line should I use in command promt? Thank you.

Hi VB fans I'm working on a relatively large project in VB6 with about a dozen forms, including graphs, labels, text boxes, etc. The software itself is actually a flow simulator with more or less complex technical calculations, several input variables. I would like to equipp the starting panel with the usual New, Open, Save, Save As, Close etc. menus (like in Excel, or Word, etc.) What is the best way to accomplish Save, or Save As?...

i'm curious to know how others handle the closing of files. i seem to always end up with this pattern even though i rarely see others do it. f1 = file('file1') try: # process f1 finally: f1.close() which explicitly closes f1

It reaches the "this.close" statement and then it stops at the "}" at the section of the following code after the "Application.Run(new VMSMain());": static void Main() { Application.Run(new VMSMain()); }

Hello, I'm writing trace log of various actions happening in my ASP.NET web application by opening a text file when the user logs in to the system and closing the file while the user logs out. This is especially to nail a hangout issue. The problem I'm facing is, when the application hangs and the user closes the browser using close(X) button I'm not able to close the text file(handle). This keeps the file handle open and the contents...

Hey everyone, I've been working on a C++ program that uses several threads to read data from a large file into several buffers at speed and pass them to different classes at different rates. I'm working in linux using Eclipse as my editor and a simple makefile to compile the files. My problem is that my main reader class (FileReader:- a thread class) does not seem to recognise the close() function that, as we all know, is the complement to...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
