Hi VB fans
I'm working on a relatively large project in VB6 with about a dozen
forms, including graphs, labels, text boxes, etc. The software itself
is actually a flow simulator with more or less complex technical
calculations, several input variables. I would like to equipp the
starting panel with the usual New, Open, Save, Save As, Close etc.
menus (like in Excel, or Word, etc.) What is the best way to
accomplish Save, or Save As?...

i'm curious to know how others handle the closing of files. i seem to
always end up with this pattern even though i rarely see others do it.
f1 = file('file1')
try:
# process f1
finally:
f1.close()
which explicitly closes f1

Hi,
Does anyone see a problem with doing:
data = file("tata").read()
Each time this is done, I see a new file
descriptor allocated (Linux) but not
released.
1) Will there ever be a point where I

4) Once the copy is complete, the batch file opens the Access database
again
5) EXIT should close out the cmd window but it does not execute that

stops at the "}" at the section of the following code after the
"Application.Run(new VMSMain());":

Hello,
I'm writing trace log of various actions happening in my ASP.NET web
application by opening a text file when the user logs in to the system and
closing the file while the user logs out. This is especially to nail a
hangout issue.
The problem I'm facing is, when the application hangs and the user closes
the browser using close(X) button I'm not able to close the text
file(handle). This keeps the file handle open and the contents...

Hey everyone,
I've been working on a C++ program that uses several threads to read data from a large file into several buffers at speed and pass them to different classes at different rates. I'm working in linux using Eclipse as my editor and a simple makefile to compile the files.
My problem is that my main reader class (FileReader:- a thread class) does not seem to recognise the close() function that, as we all know, is the complement to...

XDocument document = XDocument.Load (XmlReader.Create (file));
to load in contents of a XML-file for parsing.
However, i noticed that the file seems to be
locked by the process and i can't save changes
made to it in VS until it ends.
How can i close the file?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
