Hi, I am trying to find a VB way that would create a folder on all
existing drives - the folder name would be the same on each drive. ie
c:\backup, d:\backup, etc. But the folders would only be created if
they don't already exist, and if the drive happens to be one a folder
cannot be created on (ie a cdrom drive) it would just be skipped
without the code generating any errors.
your help on this would be most appreciated. jenny

Hi all,
Is there a way in VB or via an API to get the status of a drive?
I would like to write something along the lines of:
If DriveState("C") = WRITE Then
' drive active, so show "WAIT" form
frmPleaseWait.Show
endIf
' wait for C to stop writing

Hello,
Im grabbing tables via VB code using visual foxpro ODBC drives.
The tables directory is in a mapped network drive. The code works fine
and does the job, however if the computer is idle for a while the
network drive apears to have a red X on the icon and the drive becomes
disconnected. this seems to effect the VB code from grabbing the
tables. I get an error saying the specific table cannot be found. If i
manually open the mapped...

Hi there,
I assigned icon for a window's form using form's Icon property at design
time. Now I want to change the icon. I tried to replace the old icon with
the new icon using form's Icon property. Somehow in the form's property
window's Icon property has changed to new icon, but on the form it still
uses the old icon. Then I tried to set Icon property to None, and it
doesn't allow me to do it. I don't know why and how can I fix...

Hi, there have been loads of posts about this problem on loads of forums and
I have tried everything suggested (except the stuff I’m not comfortable with
like deleting drivers and reg. edits).
I have an HP Pavilion dv2130ea laptop computer with XP media edition and sp2.
I have had lots of automatic updates recently.
When I boot my computer, everything is fine.

Hi all.
Summary
Plugging flash drive into work PC, no drive appears.
Details
First of all, I have searched TheScripts for an answer. The closest I found was this article which covered similar, but not identical issues.
In more detail, the problem is this. I have two flash disks, an old 256MB USB1.1 and a newer (though not really new) 2GB USB2. They both appear to be working perfectly, and I'm trying to move all my stuff from the older...

Hi,
I just bought a SanDisk Cruzer 4GB "U3" thumb drive. Is it possible
to run an Access 2003 MDE off of one, complete with data? If so, what
would I have to do to get it to work?
Just curious. No Biggie! I thought I'd take a break from writing
code and try something different. I guess I could go fishing :-)

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
