I am an experienced mid-range programmer that is taking a self-paced course to attain my MCP, MCAD and MCSD certifications.
I just purchased a Dell notebook to load the DVDs for the course and I keep getting an error message. I have successfully loaded Visual Studio.NET and I am attempting to load the core requirements when I get the following error:
ERROR 1609. An error occurred while applying security settings. ASPNET is not a valid user or group.
Can anyone help?

Additional Information
There are two reasons why you would receive this message.
1. You installed NetAdvantage and you do not have IIS installed.
2. You have IIS installed, but you are missing the ASPNET client.
If you do not have IIS installed, you can install it by going to the ControlPanel, selecting Add/Remove Programs, then Add/Remove Windows Components. If you do not want to install our web product, you can download just our Windows Controls from our website.
If you do have IIS installed, and you are receiving this error, you need to create an ASPNET user. To do this, open up command prompt and enter the following commands:
cd C:\WINDOWS\Micr osoft.NET\Frame work\v1.1.4322
aspnet_regiis –i
You may need to change "WINDOWS" to "WINNT" depending on your operating system, and you may need to change the version at the end of the path to match the version of the .NET Framework you have installed.
After you enter these commands, you will be able to continue with the installation. Please note that the path above is relative, and may be different depending which operating system you are using.
