Was it actually deleted? If not sure, check by searching for "TASKMGR.EX E". If it's under "C:\Windows\sys tem32" and all upper case, you're probably safe.
If it's somewhere else or not all in upper case, it might be a virus/trojan/etc.!!!

If it's still there but deactivated, you can reactivate it like this:
  • Start -> Run -> regedit
  • Find HKEY_CURRENT_US ER\Software\Mic rosoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Policies\System (if System doesn't exist, create it)
  • Create a new DWORD-Value called DisableTaskMgr with the value 0
If the file "TASKMGR.EX E" can't be found, try to get it from another computer with the same version of Windows installed. A simple copying should do the job.

Does IBM publish a schema for the database that the DB2 task manager uses? Although we've got the task manager client installed on some windows machines, (a) most of our desktop machines are Apple Macs and therefore gloriously incompatible, and (b) I'd like some of my managers to be able to see the status of tasks without giving them access and training with the task manager. Thus, does anyone know of anything IBM have published to allow...

Hi, I am a newbie at C#. Here is my current problem: I want my application to iterate through the list of tasks presented in task manager. I want it to look at the task names and if a certain task exist in the task list I want to kill it (as nice as possible). I started the task manager with the following row: System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("c:\\windows\\system32\\taskmgr.exe");

I have some users that continuously end task on my database when a search takes to long. In turn corrupting the application. Is there any way to prevent this? The Microsoft KB for Methods That Can Be Used to Prevent Corruption suggests not allowing Task Manager to shut down the application but gives no way to prevent this. Any suggestions would help. Thanks in advance, Mark

In the last 1-3 weeks, we have had numerous users of Task Manager 2007 (www.orbisoft.com) complain that they can no longer export certain reports (Task Manager 2007 uses a Sagekey.com Access 97 runtime) to Excel 2003 or Word 2003 format. They say they get an error message then both Task Manager 2007 and Office 2003 shut down. Any ideas why this is happening?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
