Having trouble installing my 180 day Visual Studio 2005 trial disk.
The CD that was sent is actually a DVD not a CD. My home PC only has a CD
drive.
I attempted to install on an external drive using a work PC with a DVD drive
and then use the external drive from my home PC. Unfortunately the install
process puts files on the hard drive of the work PC as well as on the
external drive. So I can not run the software from my home PC using the...

Can anyone tell me how - or if there are tools available to create a bootable
system DVD ROM from Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 installed to
defeat the waste of time trying to download and update all the service packs
etc if and when you have a system crash and have to rebuild an existing
system- when you a the owner of a legitimate MS Widows Operating System
(Original Version) Disk.

I have seen similar questions posted here but no result for my situation so
here goes. I have a fairly new Maxtor OneTouch III Turbo Terabyte external
drive (raid) and a new Dell 690 Precision also raid.....on XP. The maxtor
was working fine and I was backing up data to it for a couple of months.
Then all of a sudden the computer did not recognize it. I tried device
manager, uninstalling & reinstalling driver, etc. I tried other USB...

I'm attempting to get a commercial adaptation of a rail traffic-control simulation model to interact with a home-brewed program duplicating the dispatcher's thinking, previously written (without any I/O interface) in BASIC a few years ago, now being redeveloped in C++.
I've been learning C++ for a couple of months; have no problem with commonly-used programming functions, what little I've scraped off the 'Net makes a reference to "high-level...

I have downloaded many ISO's from the enterprise agreement site, but none of
them seem to be bootable after I run the ISO/IMG through Nero 8 to a CD.
Other sites are no problem and of course my Technet downloads are no problem.
Just the Enterprise Licensing site. I can run these on existing OS, but can
not from a cold boot.
Assuming I'm doing the steps correctly, are these ISO suppose to be
bootable, and secondly, is there a way to make...

MSDN FAQs say ISO images are bootable.
But, I can't get the Windows 2003 R2 SP2 ISO to boot. (Installing on a box
with no OS).
Does someone have to go through this awful process of third-party ISO
burners and such just to use it?

MSDN FAQs say they are, but I can't get a box to boot with the Windows 2003
R2 SP2 ISO.
I try dvdburn.exe per the FAQs and it only pukes this out:
"Media type: Unknown Media Type"
Media is unknown type, unsupported, or there is no media in the drive.
These have no problem with the DVD or ISO: XP's DVD writer, Virtual CD-ROM
Control Panel and Magic ISO Maker (the latter says the ISO is bootable).

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
