I have a table in my database on SQL Server which holds a file name
that refers to a file that is stored on the server. I would like to
create a trigger to delete this file from the server if the row in the
table is deleted. I have been trying to use this command in a trigger
(<filename> is the name and path of the file):
xp_cmdshell "delete <filename>"
If some one could please help I would appreciate it very much. I

We are running SQL 7 on a Windows NT Server. If you copy a 25Mb file
from this machine to a W2K server, the file copy takes over 5 minutes
on a 100Mpbs switched network.
Copying the same file to another NT server takes only seconds, and
copying the same file to the W2K server from the 2nd NT server, (which
is not running SQL) takes only seconds also.
Has anyone any ideas as to why file copying between this machine and a
W2K one will...

I wrote a recursive function that calls File.copy to copy file from
one directory to another. However the performance is attrocious. It
takes close to 3 hours to copy some that can be done in like 15
minutes. There is virtually no CPU usage and very minimal network
traffic during the copy operation. On both the client and server. What
can be going on here? Is there a better way?
Any help appreciated.

I had previously posted this on the security ng, but haven't had a hit so I
was wondering if someone here would be willing to take a stab. I am trying
to copy a file to a network drive. I can do it on the web server but not
from a client. Here is the code:
Dim impersonationContext As
System.Security.Principal.WindowsImpersonationContext
Dim currentWindowsIdentity As System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity

Hi,
We upgraded our W2K for a W2K3 server at the beginning of the year.
It's purpose is to handle TS distribution of a couple of MS-ACCESS 97
apps
stored locally on the server.
The server is stable. But there are some slow downs within the apps.
Anything involving a file access is slow.
Let's suppose that I want to open a file from within MS-ACCESS.

Hi.
I have an interesting problem. The C program presented below takes
around
12 seconds to copy 128 MB of data on my machine. Yet I know the
machine can go
faster since a copying done at a DOS prompt takes only 4 seconds to do
the same
128 MB copy (and a copy is both a read and write.). So why is this
thing like 3x

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
