You can use WMI to read the CPU data. But how does this protect your program?

I am do not have much knowledge about this. Or is it the network card serial number which will protect my program from copying onto other computer?

You can use WMI for that as well. You can use whatever unique number you want. But just having a unique number doesn't constitute protection. You should also be aware that there's no such thing as copy protection that is unbreakable.
