Do I need an ADC if the signal is in voltage to read from USB?

1 New Member
There will be a signal of around 0.5 volt DC and I need to read it from USB port, can I do that and how.
Thanks for any help.

for applications such as this I would use a microcontroller with ADC and onboard USB interface, e.g.

you can buy low cost (about $40) PIC18 based prototyping boards such as

or PIC24 based (about $60)

the microcontroller would be programmed in C but such boards come with plenty of example programs. You can then program a host PC in VB to receive data from it.
