Keydown event in excel worksheet

1 New Member
Hi,
Keydown (or keyup or keypress) event can be triggered from a userform, but I can't find how to generate it directly from an excel worksheet.
Since there exist a command "autocomplete", there must be a way to do this. With which vba code??
Can you help.?

I'd love to know how to do this too. My scenario is that I want to trigger a macro when the user changes a value and presses enter.

The closest I got was adding a worksheet change event to the sheet, then detecting if 1) the value in the cell was changed and 2) the next cell that it goes to is the one below it (happens when the user presses enter, but also happens under other circumstances so its not a brilliant solution as such):

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal target As Range)
  2.   If target.Address = "$B$4" Then
  3.       Select Case ActiveCell.Address
  4.          Case "$B$5"
  5.               'trigger off the event
  6.               MsgBox "You did it"
  7.
  8.        End Select
  9.   End If

Would really love to know if anyone had a solution to this.

As far as I can tell from the documentation, the key-related events apply only to userforms.

I don't follow your logic on the autocomplete, at all. Excel obviously performs a lot of processing and event-handling which it doesn't expose to VBA.
