VB6 and Crystal Reports 9

137 New Member
Hi all,
I am using VB6 and Crystal Reports 9. I have to show the transaction in the report day by day. I have shown all the reports but what I wanted is I want to show the transaction with colors. I mean to say I want to show the transactions line by line with alternate colors. Is it possible in Crystal Reports 9? The database is too large so it is quite hard to view it because it shows the name and the amount. So, it is not easy to match the name with the amount, if it can be shown in colors then it will be easy to the users to view.
Thanks in advance.

You need to write formula for color from the font tab for that particular field.

Hi,

Go to CR Designer, right-click on Details Section to (extreme) left go to menu :
"Section Expert", Click on "Color" Tab
Check the option "BackgroundColo r"
Click on "Formula Button"
and give this in Formula button:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. If RecordNumber mod 2 = 0 then
  2.   crSilver
  3. Else
  4.   crAqua
Check the CR Color Constants and change to whatever colours you want.

Hi Sayam,

You can use the Crystal Function :

Color(red,green ,blue)

red ,green and blue are Numbers : value between 0 and 255.

This is equivalent to RGB function of VB.

Hi Lotus,

I dont think DataReports have that option of Alternate Colors.
We can change the BackColor/ForColor of Controls on the Report during Runtime, This would change the color of all the records displayed in that control..
may be we can write some sort of Formula.. I'am not very sure, I will check and tell you..

I have a transaction log file where the DataSet table's Description column is actually delimited into "subcolumns" based upon the transaction id. I would like to parse these into separate fields for reporting purposes and am wondering if anyone knows if this is easily accomplished using the .NET version of Crystal Reports? For example, the description column may be reporting on a dataentry error as follows: TXNCODE: 1010001

I know this may not be the best NG for this, but I feel you guys know more about this than any of the other NGs. I need to build several simple reports (over 50 of them and they get their data from sql server) and I was wondering whish of these is the better tool .. We're still not sure if they'll be loaded from an existing VB6 application or if I'll have to make a separate module for them (in .Net). In general, which is the better tool?...

Hello all, I have created an ASP.NET website that uses Crystal Reports that works on the localhost (my PC), but when I copy it to the server it does not. The problem is ExcelUseConstantColumnWidth = False. On my PC when exporting a report, it works - columns are varible width to fit the field, from the server it does not - I get constant width columns. I suspect it is a DLL issue, but so far all my comparisons are coming out the same.

On reflection, you could possibly make the app a self extracting zip file which extracts the EXE and a settings file and then starts the app, then when you app closes, it can repack the settings file and itself into the exe. You would probably want a tool for this bit which could be in the zip too. So the app isnt single exe when running but when not running, it is. Just an idea for you to think about. Another option would possibly be to...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
