Need help compiling an Excel AddIn (xla)

Need to get an Excel AddIn compiled for my son so he can support his thesis.
I can get it to compile in VB 2005 Express, but I cannot get it to generate
a .xla file, I just get a binary (dll?) formatted file and a blank setup
script.

An .xla file is an Excel file with VBA saved as an Addin. There is no
compile.
If you are compiling in a stand-alone environment, then yes you will get a
Dll.

I have no idea what you are really trying to do, but the dll should suppy
the functionality. You would be better served to post to an Excel newsgroup
and not to a Visual Basic one.

I have a big ugly program in Excel that I'm trying to remake in Access. I'm not very good at either program I'm afraid. Right now I'm trying to call up the xla file that holds the code in Excel and borrow a lengthy procedure from it. I can't seem to get the xla file to load when I open the Excel workbook. Any ideas? Here's the Access code: Private Sub comRetrieveTracker_Click() On Error GoTo Err_comRetrieveTracker_Click

In VB6 I have an app that interacts with Excel via some VBA routines written in an Excel Workbook (XLA). When the XLA loads it calls the VB6 DLL and passes a reference to the instance of Excel that it is running in. The VB6 DLL stores this info using the following code Private gExcel as Object Public Property Set Excel(XL As Object) Set gExcel = XL End Property

So now I've a lot of #VALUE and #NAME errors in my excel file. Can anyone help me...

Hi Experts, Looking for a very quick bit on of advice on how to make some python code run. I'm a newbie to both VBA and Python, so i apologise if this is very easy but i'm about to tear my hair out after googling for the last 3 days. I have written a large python script which inside of it creates an Excel table, the name of this file and how many objects can change for each project i run.

Hi, I'm trying to automate the creation of an excel file via COM. I copied my code below. I read many articles about how to release the COM objects that I create. Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
