Hi folks,
I am a newbie to Python and am hoping that someone can get me started
on a log parser that I am trying to write.
The log is an ASCII file that contains a process identifier (PID),
username, date, and time field like this:
1234 williamstim 01AUG03 7:44:31
2348 williamstim 02AUG03 14:11:20

I have a section of a stylesheet (below) I am trying to configure.
The part I am having trouble with is the when test.
I have a series of pulldowns that I can select from, some are text and some
are number.
If the sort field is "field1" then I need to sort by number, but if "field2"
I need to sort by text. There are other fields as well.
Do I have to do a <xsl:when test=""> <snip> </xsl:test> for each field or

Sort a List
Xah Lee, 200510
In this page, we show how to sort a list in Python & Perl and also
discuss some math of sort.
To sort a list in Python, use the “sort” method. For example:

I'm counting the frequency of word occurances and would like to return
a key/value list sorted descending by frequency.
So I need to quickly see if a word (key) is in the list, but later
sort the list descending by values.
Any ideas on how to do this efficiently?
Thanks,

Hi
I'm designing a query for our hockey coach to print out players' names
to stick on game sheets. I could sort the query results based on
Jersey number, but the problem is the 2 goalie names have to show up at
the top of the list, and of course they don't wear jerseys 1 and 2. I
would like the 2 goalies to show up at the top, and then the rest of
the records to be sorted by jersey number regardless of position
(forward or defense). I...

Hi,
I have a generic list with a some objects of a particular class in it.
I have implemented a IComparer for the the class and pass it to the
List.
The list.sort method works fine when the value of the field I want to
compare is different, but when all the elements are same, the list
still gets sorted(meaning the sequence of the elements still change).
For eg.
Say the list is filled with object of type A, where in A has a
property...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
