If I **HAD** to use Process.Kill to end an application that I had no other
control over. This application leaves an icon in the system tray.
Is there any way in code to force WIndows to refresh the system tray to
remove this icon. Much like Windows does if I was to run the mouse over the
system tray.
TIA

I successfully made a system tray application.
When I do shut down the computer, how does the computer can instruct my
application to shut down?
For the moment, if I don't quit my application, system asks to kill an
unresponsive task before shut sown.
How does I make shut down run more correctly?
Thank you

When I add a USB key, system tray icon on Windows XP shows USB icon. It also
shows icon that can be used to "Safely Remove Hardware". I would like to use
this icon in one of my Visual C++ application.
All I could find is that I can use LoadStandardIcon() call in Windows to
expose very few Standard icons, which includes default application icon,
information icon, warning icon, error icon, question mark icon and
exclamation point icon.

Hey There,
I have a system tray application that is running, and it needs to
communicate with a Windows Service that I wrote. My problem is that if
a user switches to another desktop, I need the service to have
communication be able to distinguish that data needs to be sent to app
A instead of app B. I was going to try to use a desktop handle to
distinguish between the two, but I can't create the service as an
interactive service (nor...

I'm trying to write a piece of software in C++ which will display a
clock in the windows system tray. I am able to create icons there,
but i am not sure whether it is possible to write text there, similar
to how the windows clock works.
I have seen various freeware apps which do this so i assume there must
be a method, but i am having difficulty locating information on how to
code it.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,
I have a small managed code application (windows forms) that executes
on startup and immidiatly minimizes to the system tray. It launches
and shows the form when I double click it's small icon in the system
tray. So far so good.
I'd like for the app to maximize outside of the system tray when the
Windows + ? combination keys are selected. It seems that I can catch
keystrokes when the form is showing but when minimized(Hide()) it in...

I am using VS2005 (vb) and I have a program that starts when Windows boots
up. Occasionally the icon that should appear in the system tray does not
show up. The program is still running in memory but the tray icon is not
there. If I start the program after Windows has booted up the icon shows
every time. I am assuming that the reason is due to the icon being created
before the system tray is loaded/running. I have used a timer with...

I've a windows application that does a lengthy backup process. While the
process is going on, I need to show a progress bar inside system tray or

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
