VB .Net Deployment Setup Wizard

2 New Member
When I attempt to Add New Project in VB .Net for Setup and Deployment Projects, I see only a single icon in the Templates pane, the Setup Project icon. I expected to see the Setup Wizard icon in addition to several others. What is the problem?

Are you running the "Standard Edition" of Visual Basic .NET ? If so the Setup Wizard is not available on that edition.

I just started using VB.NET and am trying to go through a complete test project. I did some db stuff, added a crystal reports form for output and the program runs as it should. Now how do I create a setup package to run on other computers? Does .NET use only the Windows Installer process? VB6 had a Setup and Deployment Wizard that collected all dependants and you could add extra things like readme files and the like. Then it packaged the...

Hi All I wanted to deploy Access files and came to the conclusion that I'd need the Windows XP Developer software but was told that it was no longer available I was instructed to get Visual Studio .Net 2003 Pro which was meant to come with the same tools needed to deploy royalty free access solutions Now my problem is that I cannot find a way to do this and I cannot find the packaging wizard that I believe that I would need to do the job I...

Good Afternoon, I need to distribute an application which includes the run time files for Access 2002. I do have the Office XP Developer CD’s. The application itself is written in VB 6 with an Access back-end. I have created a number of reports in Access and I am starting them from the Visual Basic Front End. However, I have a number of users who do not have a copy of Access which means they will obviously need the run time files. ...

When i try to install the program using the msi file the program installs fine but crashes when i try to run it with the following message:

I'm trying to create a "standalone" install package (without any of the dialog boxes that a standard setup package would have). I think I understand how to do it in VB6 (using PDCmdLn.exe); I have already researched this subject in the MSDN for VB6. Here is the problem: I'm trying to execute a batch file containing this command and I'm running into a couple of errors. Here is the contents of the batch file: ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
