Almost everybody in this newsgroup is using VB6 or lower. While you may
get a stray answer to VB.NET (including VB2003 and VB2005 which has
dropped .NET from its name) questions here, you should ask them in
newsgroups devoted exclusively to .NET programming. Look for newsgroups
with either the word "dotnet" or "vsnet" in their name.

For the microsoft news server, try these newsgroups...

microsoft.publi c.dotnet.genera l
microsoft.publi c.dotnet.langua ges.vb
microsoft.publi c.vsnet.general

There are some others, but these should get you started.

hi, I read couple of emails in the group regarding using the form to display a message (instead of MsgBox which needs user input to be closed). I'm not very familiar with forms, I would appreciate if someone can add couple of codes to my code in order to display the variable "counter" in a form. Thanks in advance, Arash

Visual Basic (not dot net) what is the best way to check the User has entered an integer into an InputBox? isNumeric() checks for a numeric value .. but does not notify of numbers with decimal places inputBox returns a string so I could check for decimal point??? this seems like overkill The value returned can be asigned into an Integer type and then a Single

When I add the name of a new individual in a, bound form, it will not display that person’s name in a label control of a second unbound form. I have a scheduling program that I am working on. Included in the application program is a data “GRID” which I believe was created using Visual Basic, not standard Access. Its purpose is to display the results of a range of “from-to-dates” of registrations for different clients. The difficulty...

I have a form that is coded to open a File Dialog boc to pick a picture to display on that particular item on a subform. My form is not based on query, but rather two separate tables (one primary, one sub). That code is working properly. How do I get that to translate to my report? I use VBA code because I use formats other than BMP for the pictures. Would basing the form on the qury that the report is based on solve the issue without...

Okay, I bet this is something simple ... I'm running through a pair of loops and I want to show my progress as I go. The outer loop advances through the customer table, the inner loop advances through product classes. Each time I advance to a new customer, I set me!lblCustomer.Caption to be the customer ID, and each time I advance a product class I set me!lblClass.Caption to equal the product class. The trouble is, nothing shows in these...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
