Show New Files in Windows Explorer

I have written a programme in VB (a 5 year old version)

One of the things it does is to create new directories and files within them

Problem:-
The new directories and files are not displayed in Windows explorer unless
it is closed down and reopened.
I have tries the Refresh option in explorer.

Any offers please

Although this question does not belong in here, I hope someone help, as I do not know where to send it, but someone here might have come acros similar problem: Some of JPG files sitting in the same folder show up OK on an HTML page, while the other do not as if they are not there or their name is misspelt. Tried low-upper case in an ASP page, and in the files names - same result Then I noticed that the same files do not show up in the...

How do I show files from different directories as the Windows Search function does in a VB.NET application. Have already found the files that I graphically wants to display in Windows Explorer! Thanks Mattias Sjögren for your earlier advice that I probably have to create a shell extension for that. But I do not know how to go on! Thanks for advices / Mathias

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, I have just installed Visual Studio.net 2003 Enterprise Architect. I have been using Visual Interdev so far, and I am used to be able to select from a desktop, drag bunch of .asp files, and drop them into a Project Explorer window and have it show there as a tree of files. Is there some setting that I need to enable in Visual Studio.Net to do the drag and drop to Solution Explorer (which seems to be the equivalent of Project Explorer...

I don't see the pattern. I have a couple of solutions that I acquired from someone else. When I load these, I see the .vbproj and .vbproj.user files in the Solution Explorer. BUT, when I create a solution, I don't see them--even though they are in the folder, naturally. What's the trick? Thanks. Larry Woods

We have an ASP.NET 2.0 web application running on a Windows 2003 domain controller. Part of that application needs to read and write files from and to a network share ( living on a MAC Xserveraid) on the same network segment. I mapped a drive on the server to that share. When mapping the drive, I could enter access credentials for the shares (an account from the Mac side that does not exist in the windows domain). Using Windows Explorer,...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
