Hello All,
I have created a vb.net app that I want to place on a network drive. Each time I try to execute it from the network, a security violation pops up and
prohibits the app from running. Running from my local system everything works fine. I can't give the exact error because I'm not at work where
this occurs. The error is something like "No Security Priviledges ---- zone: Intranet." I googled and found a near match, but reading the resolution
bewildered me somewhat.
I also use Crystal Reports viewer within the app (3 different reports).
From within VS Studio I did build->cleaned the app then build->build the app. I then took the "Release" folder and placed it on our network drive,
and setup a desktop shortcut to the .exe.
I would like someone to provide at minimum, an overview that will proper direction on how to deploy to a network. Detail examples would be even
better! Or worst case provide a link to an easy understandable guide for deploying. I have no-one else to turn to except you chaps here in the
newsgroup.
Thanks a bunch for your help,,

First things first, install .NET 3.5 SP1, that service pack changes
the default security settings for intranet applications. If you don't
want to do that, please search the archives of this newsgroup at http://groups.google.com/group/micro.../topics?lnk=sg
I written a few times on the matter and I'm sure others have as well.
Thanks,
Seth Rowe [MVP] http://sethrowe.blogspot.com/
You can
Upgrade to framework 3.5 SP1 or change the Local Intranet Policy to
FullTrust you can do this by hand or with a deploy package http://support.microsoft.com/?id=815173

Thanks for the info! Does the 3.5 SP1 install on my local development machine AND the clients running the app? or does it create different in the
deployment package?
Thanks.

It's been years since I've pushed out a Window's app, but I'm fairly
sure this would need to be installed on the client machine.

Hi there:
I'm a veteran to ASP.NET 1.1, but new to 2.0, and I'm using VS 2005. When I

problems, but deploying the site to a 2003 Server machine (which is also
running several 1.1 sites) throws a persistent 404.
I've looked around and found several references to the...

In my C++ and VB days, it was easy to put a program on a network
drive, and allow each user to shortcut to it. Then, when needed, I
could just update the program on the network drive, and each user
automatically had it the next time they ran it.
Sometimes seems to be happening in CSharp. Now I get the error:

Using VS2005:
We have created custom class projects that output to DLL files.
In our App, we add these to the list of Solution References and include them
in the code.
When the App compiles, it places copies of the DLL files in the output
(bin's Debug/Release folders).
